LeBron isnt going anywhere....he owns the state of Ohio. Only place I could see him going where he would not look like a mercenary is possibly LAL.

again- is it a SURE thing he stays in Cleveland? of course not- he has here what he will have no where else.

Not only that--- but if they use the pick to secure another player- there is no where else he could realistically go that would give him a better shot to win.

again- this comes down to some math.

The cap is set to be about 103M next year.

The Lakers COULD stretch Deng, and get rid of Clarkson. So- Deng would go out to like 5 years- about a little more than 7M a year for 5 years instead of 18M a year for the next 2 years. lets ASSUME they do that---

and assume what with Randle? just let him walk? Or pay him between 12 and 18 a year?

--- lets say they stretch Deng, get off Clarksons deal by trading him into cap space, and let Randle walk- MAXIMUM cap room. Lets say they sign George and LeBron. Whats left?

PG. Ball- 7M -
SG. Ingram- 6M
SF. LBJ- 35M
PF. PG- 31M
C. Zubac- 1.5M

bench: Nance Jr. 2M, Hart 2M, Kuzma 2M.

Deng's dead money of 7M

that equals a TOTAL of : just about 94M

that team pretty much fucking blows outside of George and LeBron for the immediate season- and has LESS than 10M (about 7M) to finish it off. Lonzo will be 21 years old for the entire season (well 20 for the very start). Ingram will be 22 for the entire season. Neither will be ready to contribute meaningfully on a championship contender.

Is LeBron going to spend the last year or two of his absolute prime baby sitting?

contrast that with playing with a team like:

PG- Isaiah Thomas
SG- Jr Smith
SF- LeBron James
PF- TT
C- Love

and that doesnt even count the Brooklyn pick OR the Cavs own first round pick. The Cavs could put together a MONSTER package of the Brooklyn pick, their own first rounder, and guys like Osman and Zizic- EACH who would have been first rounders in the passed years draft- for a VERY good player or two.

LeBron would have to decide to LEAVE Cleveland, to go to a team that has no chance of winning to babysit. Doesnt make any sense.

lets say they resign Randle to a 14M dollar deal--- and KEEP Clarkson...and stretch Deng.....

PG- Ball- 7
SG- Ingram- 6
SF- Bron- 35
PF- George- 31
C- Randle- 14M

Bench: Clarkson 13M, Zubac 1.5,

Deng dead money 7M

you are already at 115.5....doesnt work.

the hard part will be to not gut the team- while opening up almost 70M in cap room to accomodate Bron and George.

anyone who tells you there is a chance they bring in a 3rd star is either drunk, delusion, or cant add correctly. ---

UNLESS- they signed Paul and LeBron- and then traded Ingram and or Ball with Deng for a star. Unless they did that- I could see them losing not only to Golden State in the West- but they might not even get out of the 2nd round against Minnesota or Houston.

Contrast that with staying in Cleveland--- and having a practical guaranteed trip to the Finals- with a much better team.

Its just common sense. Hate to crush your dreams.. well, not really. lol.

The Cavs roster doesn't look as appealing anymore. IT has a bad hip and is 30. TT's on a bad deal and the Cavs have no room to improve. The Lakers have two promising young assets in Ball and Ingram. Lebron's going to have to go through Golden St. anyway to win a title. Winning the East again really doesn't do anything for his resume at this point. No one really knows where Lebron's going for the foreseeable future, but the fact that the first reporter to call Lebron to Cleveland well before anyone else did - is now saying he's leaving at the end of the year has to be concerning if you're a Cavs fan.

Cleveland has no room to improve?

how about having the most valuable draft asset a team that is this good has had in YEARS in the NBA.

Ball and Ingram at ages 21 and 22 wont be ready to compete. They COULD be used as trade assets. The Lakers dont have the cap room to bring in any meaningful player outside of George and LeBron- and thats only if they gut the roster and stretch Deng, give away Clarkson, and let Randle walk, let Lopez walk, let KCP walk- in order to open up the almost 70M in cap space to sign those two.

Again- its math. But people will put their heads in the sand and deny the fundamentals of addition and subtraction in order to further their own bullshit.

lets say the Cavs trade their own first rounder, the Brooklyn pick AND TT for Gasol - which would be an overpay-- but lets just assume

PG. Thomas
SG. JR
SF. LeBron
PF. Love
C. Gasol

that is FAR AND AWAY better than anything the Lakers could put on the court----

so- LeBorn is going to go to LA to babysit the last 2-3 GREAT years of his career- instead of playing on a great team , in his hometown, making the most money, with the most control, and a CLEAR path to the Finals.

I call bullshit.

once again, hope you're right...

don't want him anywhere NEAR my team...
while I hope so too- the math just doesnt work unless they want to trade Ball and or Ingram- which i dont think they want to do.

You have to open up almost 70M in cap space to sign LeBron and George. It would mean gutting the team to the studs---- and then having basically no avenues to restock the rest of the starting lineup outside of Ingram and Ball who are both extremely young, especially ocnsidering the Lakers stock of draft picks is seriously compromised going forward. I know they dont have a first rounder- and iam pretty sure their 2nd rounder goes to Orlando for the next 2 years since their 1st rounder didnt transfer to the Sixers last year- making the 1st rounder that they owed to Orlando transformed instead into 2 2nd rounders.

Wishful thinking - Wikipedia
Wishful thinking is the formation of beliefs and making decisions according to what might be pleasing to imagine instead of by appealing to evidence, rationality, or reality. It is a product of resolving conflicts between belief and desire.[1] Studies have consistently shown that holding all else equal, subjects will predict positive outcomes to be more likely than negative outcomes (see unrealistic optimism). However, research suggests that under certain circumstances, such as when threat increases, a reverse phenomenon occurs.[2]

Some psychologists believe that positive thinking is able to positively influence behavior and so bring about better results. This is called the "Pygmalion effect".[citation needed]

i agree with you- its wishful thinking that you hope LeBron leaves and actually gives your Celtics a chance.

keep laughing your way into the lotto for the 5th straight year

According to you......that's the way to success!!!!! Until James wanted to return to the Cavs and they traded for Love.

Hard to say what happens with Lebron. I got to think he'd want to go to Hollywood and get the Lakers back to what they where and have that as final chapter to his career.

Wiggy I get your reaction. But I called this transition for the Cavs way back in June after the finals and even before Uncle Drew wanted out. LBJ has always had wandering eyes and if he is to get to 5 or 6 rings he knows he needs to move on. Now I did not predict Kyrie's reaction but to me that really solidifies the transition.

Yes they will hope that fire catches in his last year and why not. But they just traded Kyrie for a 2018 top 5 pick. Unless LBJ signs early there is no way they trade that for a vet . So they will have that pick and be out of the playoffs at some stage. Thats when we will see the cards play out. They will get a decent haul for Love.

Miami did not see the end coming and neither do the Cavs fans. But if I am Cleveland and someone is willing to give up alot for Love, I am listening hard

not wishing well bullshit.

Actually, that's exactly what you posted. You also created this thread and then gave a bullshit rating to the first poster who presented a differing point of view. Which shows you really don't believe what you posted.

There is, of course, no guarantee that Lebron goes anywhere. However, you are forgetting a few very important things:

1.) Lebron hates your owner: He fulfilled his promise of bringing the Cavs a title. He can leave again and Cavs fans will still love him. Even better, if he does it right, he can leave and have Dan Gilbert blamed for it.

2.) Lebron's legacy is extremely important to him: If he goes to the Lakers and just makes them relevant again, he helps his legacy. If he actually wins a title there, he accomplishes something no one else in NBA history has by leading 3 different teams to titles.

3.) While I agree that location isn't as important as it used to be...it still matters, especially if you intend to retire to and do business in a specific area.

Lebron to the Lakers is certainly no slam dunk. For one, the Lakers youngsters have to show that there is something there. If they go out and shit the bed, Lebron ain't coming.

Also, there is the possibility that the Cavs make a move or 2 that entices him to stay.

However, if the Lakers kids show enough promise and the Cavs don't add the right pieces(s), I think it's more likely than not that he becomes a Laker.
