Why the Celts next move should be to trade Rondo

Actually, Dallas was one spot I was thinking about earlier. If they gave up Larkin, Marion and a couple picks they might be able to make a better pitch for Dwight. Not sure what they would need to clear to make the $ work though.

Wow. I was just speculating earlier, but that isn't far off. This deal seems like it would take the Mavs out of the running for Howard though.

I just read the report. It is pretty vague, but it makes it seem like a deal would only happen if the Mavs couldn't get Howard. My original thought was Larkin and picks to help the Mavs put another piece around Howard. Thing is, the Celts way be more eager to get rid of the Wallace contract.

Hard for me to imagine a contending team taking on Wallace's contract at this point.

Unfortunately, I think Ainge believes the only way to get rid of Wallace is to package him with Rondo. He is probably right.

Rondo won't be a good fit for Dallas. His demeanor is best with teammates like Garnet or in a rough and tough team like the Bulls. But I can see how Dirk's hatred of the Heat can entice players like Rondo.

It is a shame that Rivers left. If any he gets players to play their very best and that would be an asset even if the team was rebuilding. Hopefully someone like Hollins or Sloan would take the Celtics helm.

I agree with this. Dirk would help the $ issues, but they would be very unlikely to land a top pick.

I will remind you of this when the Celts have reassembled a contending core in a couple years. Ainge is absolutely the right guy to build it.

It isn't possible to build a contender around Rondo in Boston, because they will be either in, or just out of the playoffs, won't have the cap space to sign another star, and he will leave in 2015.

Once you take your time and objectively analyze the situation, hopefully you will come to the same realization. Ainge is doing this the right way, even though it will be wildly unpopular with the fans.
