why not trade Kobe? at the deadline if you are far out of it....its awful hard to wrangle up 25M in salary coming the other way is the only problem.

What makes anyone think Kobe will still be healthy at the deadline?

Gerald Green signed with Miami. Thats a HUGE signing for Miami, IMO. He is an underrated player and will give them great depth.

Miami is really looking good. Like so many other teams, it will come down to health.

I agree that is a very nice signing for them. He can run with Dragic and finish in the fast break- something they sorely lacked- he also has started to develop a decent 3pt shot. He gives them some solid depth at the 2 guard spot- and can even play a little SF. Nice supporting player. A nice little scoring punch off the bench.

You guys see the cap was set at 70M instead of the projected 67M?

thats a little nice for the Cavs- reduces the tax a small bit....Cant believe its jumping to supposedly OVER 90 next year...

the teams under the cap just got a little bit more flexibility too...

Now that trades can be made and finalized I would expect the Haywood talks to heat up- especially since that 3M bump should soften the lux tax blow a little bit.

He's no Jim buss that's for sure

Gilbert is self made. Buss is another example of failed nepotism. At least thus far. I guess trjanfan said he had 2 more years before the axe falls

I notice that you deny that Gilbert's a dickhead though.

If Kobe was ever going to be traded, 3 years ago, prior to the Dwightmare season, would have been the time to do it.

At this point, it's his last season. Better to just play it out and see what happens. Maybe the kids play well enough soon, soon enough, Hibbert plays like he did a couple of years ago, Kobe turns back the clock and they sneak in as a 7 or 8 seed. Pretty unlikely, but it's the only way Kobe will see the playoffs unless he buys a ticket.

I would think Lakers fans and Heat fans really do not like Gilbert---- really- any fan of a big market team after the work he has done leveling the playing field- all though I can definitely see a particular hatred from Lakers fans after Gilbert and Cuban led the charge to get the CP3 deal vetoed- while for Heat fans Gilbert helped pass reform that made it very difficult for an owner who does not like to go far into the tax like Arison from bringing any help in around his big 3- and then took advantage of that by his own willingness to pay the punitive taxes he helped institute.

Cleveland fans love him- especially in a town where the Indians are el cheapo and the Browns are pretty much incompetent- Gilbert spends freely, has put together a championship contender, does a ton of work in the community, opened up huge Quicken offices downtown right next to the arena- owns the Casino thats dtown.....really he is everyhting you could ask for.

considering how his last few seasons have gone his chances rank right up there at being injured with Kyrie Irving...
Kyrie Irving started and played 75 games last year- and 2 of the 6 misses were down the stretch when the seeding was already in place- and he averaged top 5 minutes per game in the league.

Just saying- how many of Kobe's last few seasons would have to be combined to get to 75 games?

I mean- if they dont intend to bring him back and they are sucking around the all star break and someone offers you an asset or two- I think you gotta think about it -especially If Kobe WANTS to go seek a title with an actual contender.

Cant count the number of times you and other people have said this lol. He played 75 games and over including some of the playoffs, you can call it what you want but he was about to play in the Finals if not for a freak knee injury. Over 80 games is way healthier than Kobe has been, no comparison.

Still haven't seen you say he's not a dickhead. But at least he's a self made dickhead.

hey- when you are loaded like the Cavs and the favorite- people are going to knit-pick. It just comes with the territory- ESPECIALLY when you have LeBron every single thing on your team is going to be analyzed- then analyzed again etc...

1 Jimmy Butler, SG CHI 65 2513 38.7
2 James Harden, SG HOU 81 2981 36.8
3 Kyrie Irving, PG CLE 75 2730 36.4

Kyrie actually played the 3rd most minutes per game in the entire NBA last year. Blatt should monitor that more closely this year- especially with a viable bench guy like Mo.

ohh he can definitely be a dick if you are going up against him- he is the Anderson VArejao of owners in that you love him if he is on your team but you love to hate him if you are competing against him.
