Conduct detrimental to the league and all that. Even if the NFL has no further information than what we know, they could very easily look at the situation and conclude that it was more probable than not that Talib accidentally shot himself. Add that to his previous incidents, and it's pretty easy to justify a suspension for Talib.

However, I don't think it will be anywhere close to 8 games, unless the NFL knows a lot more about what happened than what's been released to the public. A 2 game suspension seems more likely to me.

It wasn't really Adam's fault. He specifically said that he asked someone else about it hypothetically and this person guessed 8 games. The media took that as "Schefter reports Talib will be suspended for at least 8 games." His quote was taken entirely out of context.

A couple of things:

1) I Goodell may think he needs to look tough on the Denver Broncos, or face criticism from the Patriots that the Broncos are favored = i.e. Brady's 4 gamer.

2) The punishment clause in the NFL contract is very broad - you don't have to commit an offense - but if you make the image of the league look bad with their behavior - players can be punished for that.

I'll add one more Brady got nailed. ESPN will go off the rails if Talib gets a slide. Too much PR backlash for Ginger not to do 4 games. I think Denver would be under a huge microscope if nothing is done. NE would cry foul.

Well the Broncos honestly could get a little luck in this situation if that is what you want to call it. The NFL most likely will not do anything until the police investigation has concluded. That might be months from now and the NFL season could be over before the NFL actually makes a ruling on his suspension. It is not looking like the investigation will be done at the beginning of the season so for now looks like Talib will be good to go to start the year. I'm just hoping they don't conclude the investigation right before the playoffs and then the league suspend him for the playoffs.

Yeah that is my biggest fear. Suspended towards end of season.
