Thus far I've got 5 rounds in this year with scores of 42 (+6), 41 (+6), 88 (+16), 89 (+18), and 92 (+20). Most recent rounds are listed first. So it looks like I'm in that mid 80 range over an 18 hole round. Hoping to get that down a few shotsto give a good chance at breaking 80 on a good day.

A little more than dbl the rounds played for me (I think 12 so far) and all of them 18 holes...77 low...94 high...these are handicap ESC posted scores...else my wagering score, the 94 was 95...anything >8 gets adjusted to 7...index is 10.3 thru my last posted score.

Considering I've played all over, 3 of the 12 I've never played before, and 2 I've only played once so I'm mostly okay with my game right now...the 77 came on one of my regular tracks...and I've now had 4 sides under 40...the one sore spot has been putting 10' and in.

Sat will be another course I've never played and the rating/slope is a little intimidating...7558/77.6/150 from the tips....we'll see where the guys want to play from but Blue is pretty stiff also 6552/71.9/139....I'm game for white tees here...6025/70.0/129...

The former home of the GA Tech golf team so I can see why it's so tough. I hear the greens are really tough so breaking 90 will make me happy.

Echelon Golf Club - Great Golf, Pure and Simple

Track is normally above my budget, but they posted a $44 time on Sat online and I jumped on it.

Yesterday, started pouring rain on the very first hole, but the wife and I said WTF let's play.

Rain started letting up on the 7th hole, ended up shooting a 43. Turned the corner and shot a 42 coming in, usually the back plays harder but my irons were going nice and straight.

Not much distance on the driver, no roll after landing because the fairways were really soft from the rain. Not great hip turn, but I'm trying to make sure my hands drop before starting my swing, so the drives are much straighter, now if I could only reduce the height.

I had the best round I've played in 30 years on Sunday morning. 4 of us played at Eastwoods CC in Torrington, CT. We'd never played the course and it was tricky with lots of blond shots.

I knew I was scoring really well so I knew better than to even glance at the card. Had a 10ft par putt just burn the edge of the 18th that would have been even par. Two of my buddies were in the low-mid 80s and my buddy Dave who's probably the best player shot a 77. I ended up with a +1 73!

Cripes!

I had a couple of errant drives but amazing luck at still having a punch shot to the green. Lots of luck and rally solid putting. I didn't three putt all day and I didn't miss any putts in the "should make" range.

I barely broke 90 @ Echelon...and happy.

We got paired with these young guys that were playing the blue tees...so we did as well...43-45.

All I can really say is wow...course played a little easier because the rough was not at the normal height, thickness...every large, and undulating, fast greens...overall pleased with my putting for a change...several lags over 50-60' to tap in range.

My only grip...no visuals of the holes anywhere...will be back again for certain.

Solid...still posted a sub 90 with some added swing thoughts...damn good.

Played a different course on Sunday, it's 650 yds longer than our home course and lots of trees.

Had a chance to break 90...which I've only done once on this course, but double bogies the last two holes.

Best day yet striking the ball, so the lessons and practice are paying off, but I had some really bad shots mixed in as well. Nothing better than hearing that soft "click" when you hit the ball and it's dead on target.

Got back yesterday from my Colo golf trip...had a blast.

Good...I broke 90 every round

Better...I took money from cousin every round (me giving 3 a side, he needed 5 I think)

Best...the same cousin hit on the craps table in Blackhawk and paid for the most expensive round...never realized there was that much strategy playing craps...he made way more than the person rolling.

Round 1...Redlands Mesa, Grand Jct CO...this looks more like AZ than Colo...the red rock mesa was astonishing, truly breathtaking scenery. multi-million dollar homes, but they were not really close to the fairways. The golf course was green and lush until you stray into the native areas...as with most mountain courses, you play from elevated tee boxes on many holes. Tough course, but most of the green complexes sit in bowls, but the rough often kept the ball from feeding to the green if you miss. The fastest greens we played...42-45, struck the ball okay, just couldn't make anything for par...lot of bogeys in that round....hole 17, par 3 played from near 7,000 ft altl....the vistas were outstanding.

Round 2...Lakota Canyon, New Castle, CO...same course designer, Jim Engh. This one was more Colo like...the mountains were dotted with many small trees...a lot more green...the greens were not as quick...had more poa in them. This one was more penal if you missed the FW, the native stuff was much thicker...you did good to even find it. I struggled early in this on, started with a dbl bogey 7 on 1, then had a 9 (w/o losing a ball) on #3...but regrouped on the back...was 2 under thru 7 and blew up on 17 with a dbl and bogey on 18...50-39.

Round 3...Beardance, Larkspur CO...this one I'd played before and it's the best of the 3 imo and my cousin agreed. You feel secluded...you never see another hole from the one you're playing....a wider variety of holes, some play uphill, some downhill...risk/reward holes, just a better layout we thought. 42-45....just had too many par putts from above the hole...didn't make many.

A few pics to come.

Lakota Canyon Par 3, #3...note the change in scenery...tree cover mountains here...this hole was playing 156 yds, I flew the green with a PW and could not get up and down...made 4 here...not many pics on this course...it was kicking my ass on the front 9....50 but reeled it back in some on the back with 39.

lol...the fairway were wide enough, but the elevated tee boxes did make them seem a lot more narrow than they were.

I didn't take any pics of Bear Dance, but it was the best golf course of the 3...Lakota Canyon was the most penal...you could easily lose a ball in the native stuff...had a blast though.

You're kidding right?...I might still be there trying to finish!

We played blue on all but #17 on Redlands Mesa...we went to the back tee for that one.

Well...idk, my cousin was all over...he didn't hit any backwards, but we found most of the golf courses! lol

If he was a little better I would consider it because they play 10% shorter with the altitude...7200-720 is 6480...about what we play here...6500-6600 yds.

Most of the tracks I play around here I could probably play the tips...I'm 53 with a birthday coming up in short order, my best golf buddy is more than a few yrs older than me so we tend to play blue most of the time...he probably should be playing the whites actually....lol.

We had a blast in Colo though...met some pretty cool people that we hung out with after the 3rd round. I'm golfed out for the week...sitting this weekend out.

Played Ridgecrest Golf Club in Boise, ID this morning. Pretty cool course with lots of challenging holes. Played from the tips and shot an 86. Not too shabby considering the 20-30mph winds that we were getting. On some holes it was easily a 2 club difference with the wind. I was sailing greens with my 56deg from 130yds. Started choking up on my clubs and punching to keep my shots down. Tough day, but I'm happy with it. Left quite a few strokes on the greens but that's nothing out of the norm.

Oh I'm beat after walking 18 on a hilly 9 hole course in mid 80s heat. Ended up shooting my best round of the season with an 82 (45/37). I wasn't hitting the ball cleanly or consistently on the front and luckily my short game kept it from getting too far out of whack. The second time around I found a decent grove and my lone birdie of the day on a downhill par 3 158 yarder. Hit a 9 iron that took a hop before rolling right passed the hole finishing 5 feet away.

Had two really nice sand saves that finished within 18 inches of the hole, one of which was a pretty long shot across the length of the green. My sand outs have always been pretty consistent and I'm glad I've got my short game to where it is, but there is always room for improvement. Would love to put together a complete round one day this year and shoot in the 70s.
