Herbert was right there and he has had the better career .

it’s a front offices job to correctly scout and if your scouting dept felt that Haskins was better then the college Herbert then you were as high as a GA pine .

it was clear haskins was urine

to compound things chase wasn’t playing anywhere near elite level. And you won’t get much out of him this year either
Chase was supposed to be a good pick. So far not so much.

When all the talk of taking a look at Tua was going on I was for it. I argued QB was more important than DE.

I did not see Herbert being as good as he has been. Then too he is on the west coast and I don't see a lot out there.

I saw a fair amount of Chase since he was in the B1G. I thought he was very good, but he had games where he disappeared. To this point the Bosa's have been better but they have a hard time staying on the field.

Correct duke, Washington went DLine crazy. You should have the Fearsome Foursome or Purple People Eaters for all Washington invested in the DLine. Those three WRs were Millen's undoing. He has since said he made a mistake.

Good point on the DLine.

Was the Steel Curtain the Steelers DLine back in the day?

If we were still the Redskins, maybe they "could" have been called (if elite), "The Red Curtain". We could have banners with the sickle and hammer! I guess we would know who Putin's favorite NFL team would be...LOL

I didn't get the DLine blitz at all. The WR bonanza was awful. It literally made no sense for DET to do that.

I was a Tua guy but I knew that they had to give Haskins a chance because of Dan. Word on Tua was he had a bad hip and would stay hurt. So far he's been hurt a lot, but did get off to a great start this year.

I was out on Herbert because so many QBs had flopped from the Pac 12. I wrongly dismissed him. Plus their really wasn't a lot of buzz surrounding him not matter what the Monday morning QBs will tell you.

So I settled on Chase and he won defensive ROTY and won a couple of games almost by himself. (Bengals, 49ers)

I'm gonna give him a pass this year when he comes back, but next year I'm gonna need him to be Micah Parsons.

I didn't get that far into the future LOL but yes Pittsburgh was the Steel Curtin but I think the reference was intended for the entire team. They had a hell of DLine, great LBers and some HOFers in secondary.

My Dad would tell me how great Jack Lambert was. Dude looked like a WWF wrestler with a uniform.

I saw an interview with him once I believe and he said that he thought dresses should be put on QBs. He said that without smiling and I think he was serious.

Did that same defense have Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and Lynn Swan on offense? How in the world did they accumulate all of those players within a few years of each other?

Regarding "The Red Curtain" nickname, that would be funny having people melt down if fans wore Sickle and Hammer shirts or CCCP shirts to games. My parents brought me back a CCCP t-shirt when they vacationed in Eastern Europe. I wore that t-shirt to Walmart one time and I thought some people were going to kill me.

For the record, I am not a communist...LOL

Lambert is one of my all time favorite football players, hell that entire team. He might have weighed 220 and was tall but tough as nails. Next to him was Jack Ham (former Penn State player) and a great LBer and Mel Blount at safety. They did build a team. Funny thing is pre- Chuck Knoll/Terry Bradshaw Steelers were terrible. It all started to turn in 1969.

I probably would not have liked the Red Curtin idea seeing as I was in the military. However I am a huge fan of Russia players in hockey. Of course I hope Ukraine keeps kicking Putin's ass.

That is awesome that they built such an amazing team like that. Simply amazing.

I am joshing with the "Red Curtin". Especially in the capital...it would inappropriate and awkward. It sounds like a funny SNL skit...when they used to be funny.... Sandler, Carvey, Hartman, Luvitz, Miller, Meadows, Farley...etc.

That being said, I went to college with a couple of self-proclaimed communists and socialists Times are a changin for sure.

The "Russian Five" the Red Wings had in the late 90's was awesome. I also hope Ukraine sends Putin back to his wormhole as well.

What a nightmare! He started a war of aggression under some Hitler-like excuse.

I said he was the next Josh Allen in that draft. I also said picket was the next Herbert in this one. We’ll see how that goes
