As for the lottery, HELL YEAH. Pretty shocked though it held to form. The chances of that happening had to be pretty slim. Usually one team moves up.

According to a math professor at USC, the chances of the top 3 picks would fall to the 76ers, Lakers and Celtics was 1.9%.

And before the conspiracy theorists start saying it's rigged. There were 12 reporters in the room to witness the whole process.

So who does everyone think is the best pick for the Sixers and who is the best pick for the Lakers?

I feel sorry for anyone drafted by the Tankers...I mean 76ers. The Lakers? I just don't care. Although I still think they should trade Russell to the Celtics.

The Sixers are done with tankapalooza.

I suspect the Sixers are for sure going to be trading some players this summer.

They still desperately need a point guard.

I hope they're done tanking. And good call on a PG. Any ideas who they might try to go after this off season?

They're all chess pieces. If you think Simmons can catapult the franchise, you can select him and trade away others and get of lofty wing player (or two).

I agree, but I think there's a good chance Ingram could turn out to be better than Simmons. If the Sixers have them as basically even, it just makes sense from a roster construction fit to select Ingram.

Here is an interesting almost certainly fabricated rumor..

NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Trading With Los Angeles Lakers, Drafting Both Brandon Ingram And Ben Simmons

I can't see the Lakers doing that trade. Okafor shows promise. But he also has flaws.

OTOH, I could see the Lakers being willing make this trade if the Sixers throw in the Lakers future pick they own.

I really don't think Okafor is a good fit with Randle. Okafor plays no defense. Maybe for Embiid plus getting their 2017 first rounder back. This would assume Embiid is past the foot issue.

Russell
Clarkson
Harrison Barnes
Randle
Embiid

Not a bad young starting lineup to grow with the young coach.

People that give the Sixers shit for tanking probably don't realize how bad it was before the new regime(Hinkie) took over. The cupboard was beyond bare when Hinkie took over. They weren't going to sniff the playoffs as presently constructed, why not just rebuild and do a complete overhaul when you're going to be bad anyway? It may have taken a little longer due to some unlucky things(Embiid injury, Saric staying overseas) and them trading away MCW, but that looks like it will turn out to be a great deal for Philly.

Yeah that makes sense. Okafor is more of a swing 4/5 than a true center. Embiid is a true center.

IMO, if the Sixers were looking for a draft pick, they would sooner trade with the Celtics and grab Murray or Dunn.

Hard to say. IMO, I think they would prefer to bring in an experienced PG than drafting one since PGs usually take a few years to develop. Their target season to compete seriously is probably 17-18. After that they will start losing cost controlled prospects.

I totally disagree with this, I think it's the total opposite. Embiid even has range out to about 20 feet.

No doubt they need backcourt help.

That's what I like about Embiid. He has some range which I think would be a good fit with what Walton will want to do. Plus he would fit better defensively with Randle.

You think that 7'0" Joel Embiid is not a center because he has an outside shot?

I'd do an Okafor for Simmons or Ingram straight up trade...not sure the Lakers would.

yeah I can't see them doing the trade straight up. Getting their pick could entice them though.

I think overall he's better offensively than Okafor is. Okafor has no stretch game IMO having watched him all season. Embiid is more athletic and IMO would be able to guard a 4 or 5. Okafor has no shot guarding a stretch 4. That was my line of thinking. Okafor is a more traditional center IMO.

Yeah, I personally like a healthy Embiid far more than Okafor. It's really crazy that a 20 year old can average 17 and 8 in the NBA, and I want that gone. I just love the versatility Embiid can bring, especially when you can team him up with Saric and potentially Ingram(who I hope the Sixers take)

I would love it, if the Lakers really fell in love with one of the top 2 and offered to trade up to the #1 pick in exchange for taking off the protection for the 2017 pick, not even sure if that's manageable or not though.

I think the Lakers pick is only protected for one more year. Not sure how much it is worth removing that protection.
