i think just about anyone would lol......besides a hard-core lakers fan. 40 games in the West is no joke.

Then how come you pussied out when I suggested 30 wins at the start of this season?

You have nothing to worry about then.

I'm not really worried about the Lakers getting to 40 wins next year. I'm not really sure what makes you think they will either? Hell the Timberwolves might struggle to get to that and their roster is absurdly better than the Lakers.

especially in the West.

its not like they are likely to hit a home run in free agency- and even if they did- that doesnt mean you are gonna win 40 games.

If they get to 28 wins this season- and then 35-38 next season that would be pretty good for them all considering i would say---- it would greatly surprise me if the Lakers are in position to be basically .500 next year.

as you said- teams like the Twolves and Sixers who have a lot more young talent arent yet close to getting to 40 wins.

Well we are 45 to 50 games into the season and we know who is in the bottom 10 teams. At this point, and with the 2017 draft being so deep, which organization starts the annual tanking process ?

The Celts spot looks pretty secure (thank you Nets). The Nets are not tanking. But I think these teams are going to tank:

1. LA. Its pretty obvious they are in a bad place. At this point, with arguably Ingram as the prized piece 3 to 5 years from now when he gets some meat on him they have a tough challenge; win enough to get to 25 games and get a little better?, or lose enough to get and keep a coveted top three pick. Great arguments each way.

2. Kings. Hey you got Boogie but you need some firepower behind him, especially a floor general. Injuries have already hit you recently, and your just not going anywhere....what is the long term plan? I am thinking if your keeping Cousins you need some talent, and a top 5 draft pick might be ready to impact right away.

3. Sixers. Now this is a very very difficult situation. Embid is a beast, and he is instilling a defensive attitude and winning way.....your 7-3 in your last 10.....why tank now? Well the answer is: ITS ONE OF THE BEST DRAFTS FOR GUARDS IN YEARS. Your not getting a guard for Noel so this is your best avenue.

4. Dallas. Yeah, no need to even discuss. You need to get bad, and quickly. You will tank for sure.

5. Phoenix. Man the team has talent on paper, but you remain in purgatory. Probably you look at the sixers and think, hey, they finally are getting a payoff for years in the bottom, maybe we can too. I dont know alot about the Suns so what do you think.

Which team will start the tank first?

Yeah, I don't know if the Sixers getting to .500 next year is realistic and that's with them playing in the weaker East, and having a MUCH better base of young talent than the Lakers do.

But yeah the Lakers are sitting at 16 wins right now. That would put them on pace to finish with right around 26 wins. To jump from that to 40 wins doesn't even seem possible, and that's even if they keep their pick this year. Plus the 3 best players in this year's draft are all guards and they already have guards on their team with Russell, Clarkson and Lou. So how much of an impact would a rookie even make on their team?

You had me on ignore because apparently you got your panties in a twist. I distinctly offered you 30 wins and you never responded.

Pretty obvious the Lakers have tanked. Pretty funny that it directly coincdided with Magic being in charge.

I think that's more coincidence than anything. From what I've read and heard, the plan all along was that once making the playoffs was out of the question, they'd be sitting Deng, Mozgov and Young and just running with the young guys.

Once it became obvious that they weren't going to make it, Jeanie had cause to hold Jim accountable for his statement that they'd be back in 3 years and cut him and Mitch loose. The only real surprise was that she didn't wait until the end of the season to do it.

Lakers have been tanking and its for good reason. You have a very good draft and you dont have assets and Cap space to attract free agents. I think Magic is doing the right thing. If the balls land as they should, they will get a top 3 pick, and if not, they at least got the youngsters more playing time.

Perhaps to clarify they dont have enough assets. Getting a top 3 pick is certainly a wise direction right now.
