Congrats to the Lakers.

This was a big time building block they needed in my opinion. The pick represents either Ingram or Simmons and thats a nice chip whether they take the guy or not.

Sixers get the #1 pick finally. I feel a little band for Hinkie....this would have been the year the Sixers changed their focus- and they have some pretty nice assets and young players.

Keeping the pick in the top 2 has me all like...

Sixers had the potential #1 pick in 2013 - Nerlens Noel
Sixers had the potential #1 pick in 2014 - Joel Embiid
Sixers had the potential #1 pick in 2015 - Jahlil Okafor
Now Sixers has the #1 pick...

Looks like @ericd7633 is the only one that predicted the Sixers will win. SHOWER HIM WITH CAKE

As for the lottery, HELL YEAH. Pretty shocked though it held to form. The chances of that happening had to be pretty slim. Usually one team moves up.

they do the lottery drawing earlier and only 1 team official knows. Mutombo must have been in the room while PWC did the drawing. Usually it doesnt leak....obviously hes ognna be in some shit.

The Sixers sent out a message to a bunch of Sixers alums to tweet out a message. Dikembe didn't look at the message and retweeted it.

So who does everyone think is the best pick for the Sixers and who is the best pick for the Lakers?

Sixers were actually the 11th projected team in the lottery for 2013. Noel was the Pelicans pick.

Based on need, I honestly think Ingram is the best choice for both teams. Lakers already have Randle and the Sixers already have 4 front court players(Okafor, Embiid, Saric and Noel).

Just a friendly reminder of the last guy Colangelo took #1 overall:

/Of course, he also netted the Raps the 9th pick this year.

Dunn / Ingram ( preferably Dunn ) for the Sixers and Simmons for the Lakers.

In his defense, that was a very poor draft. Other than Lamarcus at #2, the top of that draft was weak. Rudy Gay has repaired his image a bit the past few years and Brandon Roy was lost to injuries, but the next two that proved worthy of much were Rondo at 21 and Lowry at 24. He went for foreign upside, but turns out Bargs didn't have enough drive to realize any of that upside.

Not like Aldridge was a gamble. It was between Bargs and him and as I remember it it made all the sense in the world to take Aldridge instead.

I think our memories tend to cloud our judgement. It was a high risk high reward pick in a pretty weak draft.

Yes but Aldridge was the safer bet and with 1st overall in, like you said, weak draft you should probably err on the side of caution. Especially for a franchise that had lost Vince Carter not long ago and was re-building around Bosh.

But, c'est la.

Not sure how Aldridge and Bosh would have fit together at the time.

About the same Bargs did probably lol.

Not saying there was any logic to what they were doing at the time but maybe things would be different right now had they chosen LaMarcus. There's a good reason why Masai went after him so hard last summer.

They're all chess pieces. If you think Simmons can catapult the franchise, you can select him and trade away others and get of lofty wing player (or two).
