Regular season has arrived... Week 1 at Chicago.

Will be interesting to see what Packers have on defense and special teams early in season, I think both will be a work in progress. I like that James Jones is most likely signing with Packers with Jordy out for season and uncertainty with Cobb for week 1.

Do not know much about Bears other than some quick reading on their forum. Looks like they are schuffling up the OL... realize they are switching to 3-4. I do like Fox as a head coach, would have preferred Trestman stay with Bears organization for several more years.

One thing that I have to say that was quite interesting was at an annual event I was at last week.

The Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce always holds a "Welcome Back Packer" luncheon the noon before the last preseason game where they set up about 90 tables with 9 Packer fans at each table with one spot left for a player or coach to sit at the table with the fans.

Once everyone was sitting down eating and talking with the player at their table coach McCarthy got up and was giving a talk and just as he is about to be done he yells out quite loud "We are going to kick the Bear's ass" The crowd cheered but I am sure many were as surprised as I was not expecting the bulletin board materiel right from the coach.

These comments are out in the media. When they were brought up to Coach Fox of the Bears his comment was that he has been looking at tapes and said that the Packers should feel confident.

Home opener against their rival in front of a rowdy crowd I think the Bears will be game for about a half. Too much firepower and more talent overall takes over. I see 35-17 Packers

This D is really bad...very lackluster and no ability to get off the field on 3rd down...bad...all kinds of bad if they don't get turnovers...

Studs

Aaron Rodgers - 18-23, 189, 3 TD 0 INT

James Jones - 4-51, 2 TD's (Shoulda been 3)

Lacy - 19-85, 1 TD Bounced it outside a bit too much, but ran hard inside.

Clay Matthews - Key INT and great play to run down Forte

Special Teams - Other than penalty on Shields, who had a bad day overall, Special Teams were solid.

Duds

HHCD - 2 of the worst tackle attempts I've ever seen.

Shields - Penalties on ST, on defense, and got beat on coverage.

Richardson - Can't cover, and threw in a bad penalty for good measure.

Defensive front 7 - Haven't had time to sort everything out, but run defense was terrible.

I will add following...

Studs:
- OL pass protection
- Montgomery kick returns

Duds:
- wrapping up and tackling... Richardson, Neal, HHCD, Shields whiff

Rush defense looks like huge question mark again already... and having Lynch coming to town next week could make it look even worse.

I actually rewatched most of the game... 1st quartar rush defense other than 22 yard scamper by Forte when both Richardson and Barrington over pursued and allowed huge hole for cut back was good.

3rd and 4th qtr not so bad either... Bears had 95+ yards on 13 carries in 2nd quarter... and most for 4+ yards. Many of the bigger gains were to outside... no one setting the edges very well.

forget to end thought... rush defense still does look like it could be huge question mark again. After next 2 games guess we will know if improved at all this year.

Lots of missed tackles.. Shields and Haha lead the team. Hopefully having Burnett and D. Jones back helps some.

Did not play in base defense much... seems like when in base with Pennel also on field we did better stopping the run.

My praise, James Jones comes back and looks like he didn't miss a beat. Aaron was awesome as usual. Special teams was surprising. Several good kick returns, and we didn't give them any good returns. Bad things, run defense PITIFUL! Couldn't hardly stop the Bears on a third down. Tackling very poor. Until he threw the pick, Jay looked almost Rogersesque in escaping the rush.
