Something I kind of found interesting:

The Steelers played 4 games with their starters after they lost Shazier including yesterday. Here are the points they allowed:

38
27
6 (Tom Savage Texans)
45

I'm not the biggest Steelers supporter, in fact i hate the ground they walk on, but i don't put the blame on Tomlin or Haley (granted those 4th down playcalls were horse shit) but the DC.

You had a QB who last week had more rushing yards than passing and you made him look like a HOF QB. That is on him

You had a offense that scored 10 points the week before are had 45 this. That is on him

So what's the difference, point is he makes bad calls sometimes too, and it had to have playoff implications in Nov between the 2 top AFC teams at the time, .......If that matters to you !!! He caught a lot of criticism for it...
It ended up not having playoff implications actually. Pats were 10-6 that year.

So your ok with a DC that put up 45 against a team that put up 10 in the game previous?????
Rock was responding in agreement to the mismanagement of the clock at the end of the game. How is that an endorsement of the DC?

The pathetic effort made the call look worse.

Yes, and Ive always been a Tomlin supporter, sometimes its time for a new voice, and new philosophy...

I dont remember the last time that defense didnt suck in the big spot

Yes, the team wasn't ready to play

Yes because it's obvious he won't get them over the top again. He won with the chin's team. Ever since he's been Andy Reid (close but no cigar).

There are alot of people who are ok with a DC that put up 45 against a team that put up 10 in the game previous

Everybody is so quick to say fire the HC.

IF it works out successfully and they win. Would you guys be clamoring for his head?

The blame should be on one person. And that is Keith Butler

How is saying that Tomlin should be fired an endorsement of the defensive coordinator?

I said before the play happened they should kick it deep and after the Jaguars ran their first play I said they should call a timeout. Both were stupid decisions by the head coach. Add the fact that Tomlin was talking about this "Round 2" a month before they even played Round 1, and he's a big reason they lost.

Now, I have no idea how that is an endorsement of the defensive coordinator but I guess you'll just hear what you wanna hear.

Honestly. I said this before.

If it is a success than we would have been talking about something else. But it wasn't.

Why are you endorsing a DC that put up 45?

The defense definitely got worse as the season wore along but you also have to factor in the flipside that the Steelers were getting 7 yards per play against a team that gave up 4.7 yards per play during the season.

Its really just a matter of turnovers. Just like the Falcons/Rams game.

The only reason it was so close was because Antonio Brown and Big Ben are that good. I do think Tomlin could've given the Steelers a chance to win it but when you see some of the ridiculous coaching hires like Shurmur and McDaniels then a guy like Tomlin looks like gold even if there are mistakes.

No, I would still be talking about the idiotic decisions he made. The Vikings won and I still talked about the idiotic clock management for them in their 2nd to last possession.

And I'm not.

I would choose the onside kick because if we get the ball we have a chance to win?

That is what you want to do, right?

Then you are in the minority.

I see the call of onside kick as hindsight.

You have 2 timeouts and the two minute warning. If you kick it onside, you are saying that you your team has a better chance of recovering the onside kick (something they haven't done in 10 years) than they do stopping them on 3 downs.

It isn't. Even the Pittsburgh radio guys were calling for them to kick it deep before the play happened. The odds of recovering the onside kick are lower than stopping the Jaguars for a 3 and out.

And I'm definitely not in the minority on that.

They had difficulty stopping them all day long (which agin DC needs to be fired after a pathetic performance). Why would this be any different?

Not to mention, saving your 2 timeouts for after the 2-minute warning is elementary clock-management mistake. There's no hindsight there whatsoever. It makes 0 sense.

1. Because the Jaguars aren't trying to score, they are trying to eat up clock. You know they aren't going to put the ball in Bortles hands to make a play.

2. Even if you think it might not be different, it's still a better bet than recovering an onside kick, which they haven't done successfully in 10 years.
