The Detroit Lions have released their Week 5 injury designations, and they will be without six players against the New England Patriots, including starters D’Andre Swift, DJ Chark, and Charles Harris—whose absence could potentially be a major issue on Sunday.

Ruled OUT

  • RB D’Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder)
  • WR DJ Chark (ankle) — downgraded to no practice
  • WR Quintez Cephus (foot)
  • OT Matt Nelson (calf)
  • EDGE Charles Harris (groin) — downgraded to no practice
  • DL John Cominsky (wrist)

Questionable

  • WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) — returned to practice on Friday
  • WR Josh Reynolds (ankle)
  • LG Jonah Jackson (finger) — upgraded to FULL practice
  • RG Evan Brown (ankle)
  • G Kayode Awosika (hamstring)
  • LB Chris Board (knee) — returned to practice on Friday

No injury designation

  • TE T.J. Hockenson (hip)
  • C Frank Ragnow (foot)
  • LT Taylor Decker (knee)

Now we're without Charles Harris too.

The injuries to the D-Line get worse by the week or day.

I guess this is the time for Austin Bryant and Julian Okwara to prove worthy of being on the roster.

Zappe is starting tomorrow for the Pats.

I'm not so sure if that news helps this defense or not.

The One defining trait that Lions teams have shared throughout my entire life is making nobody QB's look like God damned hall of famers. I'm willing to bet that if you take every NFL QB in the history of the game, at least 10% of them have their career best or one of their career best games against the Lions.

So the Patriots starting and backup QB being injured is probably bad news for us.

10% seems low

I know you're being quasi facetious, but there are a number of QB's who only started for the lions. So they're automatically put. And then a number who started one or a few games but never played the Lions. So they're out. And then guys like Peyton or Brady that had games against Detroit where they threw 300 yards and 5 TD's by halftime, but they also have better games out there.

I'm seriously thinking 10% is actually a huge number when you think about it with 32 teams out there.

I just think of the career backups that got massive paydays to start just because they played the Lions once.

Cephus placed on IR.

If he's out for the year, he's in serious jeopardy to asked to come back in an attempt to make the 2023 roster.

I think AB has a breakout game. Julian looks lost so far so fingers crossed.

Detroit also elevated CB Saivion Smith and K Michael Badgley from the practice squad for the week. It’s the first practice squad elevation for both players.
SS cant be any worse than Harris and Hughes and Amani. If we are lucky Jacobs gets back in after the bye.

Huge win for Lions, simply because they hate Matt Patricia so much.

Matt Patricia is gonna take his pretentious fucking pencil and draw up the best game plan the world has ever seen. Zappe might throw for more yards in this game than he does in the rest of his career combined.

You've convinced me to start Tyquan Thornton who will be making his NFL debut this week. I benched Adam Thielen.

I’d like to see someone hit Patricia today.

Not looking for strip sacks of Old Lions boy Bailey. Not looking for picks, or a Craig Reynolds TD, or even a win.

But I’d like to see someone get tossed for fucking up that fat piece shit.
