Week after week this guy just dominates. 3 sacks last week. Another huge game this week. The biggest under rated superstar in the NFL.

Too bad the O is terrible all of the sudden.

Isn't he listed as a DE, not a DT?
Don't confuse this thread with facts!!!

Maybe he is talking about when he moves inside in the nickel

Well, I was legitimately curious, so I looked him up and his stats, and he's listed as a DE.

As far as DE's go, at 5.0 sacks, he's behind Dunlap who has 6.5, and Chandler Jones who has 5.5

He would be first as a DT, but only by 1/2 a sack a head of Gerald McCoy and 1 sack ahead of Geno Atkins.

This is his first year over 5 sacks so lets wait for the season to end first.

Aaron Donald had 9 sacks his rookie year and is on pace for 10-11 again.

edit - Cox actually had 5.5 sacks according to ESPN in his rookie year. Still, lets wait a bit till we crown Cox as the best.

Be interesting if he is considered a "Chip Kelly" player when the offseason rolls around or if the complete turnover in Phili continues.

Probably going to take really close to a $100M deal for his services in the future.

He's a great player for a young guy...1 more yr on his rookie deal...will PHI be able to keep him?

Next year his cap hit does jump up close to $8 mil, but if retained on a 2nd contract...that figure will be $12 to $15 mil per at a minimum.

Cox is a beast.

He's a 3-4 DE now after coming into the league as a DT. And now that Justin Smith retired, no one is doing it better and no one will do it better while Cox is in the league.

Does JJ Watt still play?

I'm glad you're bringing up the distinction between a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DT, btw.

Yeah sorry when it comes to 3-4 DE's nobody is better than JJ Watt. If we are talking DT then there is plenty of talent there as well as others have pointed out Aaron Donald is becoming one of the most dominant forces in the NFL.

Theres more to playing DLine then sack stats. He absolutely blows up the line every game. He is listed as a DE in the 3-4 but he's more of an interior lineman because of the 3-4 system and Barwin collecting the sack stats.

Watt is the best DE in the NFL but when Fletcher Cox make 1st team all pro this year it will be as a DT. Before people defend Donald, who is a great player, need to watch Cox. He is a devastating force.

I've watched both and Donald is better. Watt is better as well. That isn't to say that Cox isn't a great player he just isn't those two guys.

Watt's been getting blocked the last few weeks. Where's the big plays? He couldn't even light up that Falcons backup. He also plays on the easier side going mostly against RTs, instead of the LTs Cox deals with. I did forget that he was playing in the 3-4 DE role now, but he's not playing up to his reputation so far.

I love Donald too, but he's not asked to do as much as Cox and he plays alongside other stud linemen.

Sacks are NOT the be all end all. Cox is a much better player than those first two. Atkins...about the same if Atkins is back to where he was. Atkins better as a pass rush and Cox in the run game.

Expected pro football focus article. Didn't get that. Hope the thread creator contracts a venereal disease.

Well I can tell you right now Aaron Donald is the highest rated DT in the league and it isn't even close last time I looked. DE at least a week ago JJ Watt was on top of that position and it wasn't even close. So if we are going by PFF (now somebody correct me if I am wrong as I don't have a subscription just what I have seen here and there) both of those guys are head of Cox but again that doesn't make Cox a bad player.
