I know, LOL, but if we could sign those eight players I'd be willing to forgo the draft altogether for two years....

They have former Bengal Evan Mathis as the 4th ranked overall Free Agent. Did not realize he had that great of a year.

I found that surprising, too....I would have bet good money he couldn't block me.....

We aren't getting much in the way of comp picks because we got more FA's that we lost. We have discussed this.

doesnt age and the quality of player factor in? I remember when we lost TJ it didnt 'count' because he had played so many seasons. Plus, JJ is going to the pro bowl, right? None of our pick ups are on that level.

QUALITY of the pick up MATTERS ie. the amount of contract and production counts! You can't get rid of a Pro Bowler for a scrub and simply say just because you replaced a body with a body you're not going to get any comp picks. Joseph was a highly sought after FA who received a huge contract and went to the Pro Bowl. Until proven otherwise I'm going to assume the 3rd Round comp pick.

Quality matters when its player for player. It doesn't matter in the same respect when you pick up MORE players than you drop.

I'll just say I dont know. The whole thing makes no sense to me. I mean you cant give up a guy that is top tier then sign a buncha dudes like Deuce Letui and call it even, right? THere has to be something factored in terms of the caliber of player signed/lost

It's a simple numbers game and it's a rule. If you want to get value for losing Joseph than you have to pick up less players than you lost.... Otherwise, the best you get for him is a 7th. Crash has posted a link to this several times and Reedy has tweeted it multiple times. We are not getting a high round selection for losing Joseph - Time to stop dreaming.

But until August knows for sure, then we are getting a 3rd round pick.

just remember

Per Wikipedia,

Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks.

The last three "additional" third round picks we had were used on Caldwell, Coffman and Ghee.

Great work.
