Good God, this team couldn't beat a solid college team right now. Awful in all facets of the game.
I think that Smith play where he couldn't even find the ball is the epitome of how this team has been playing. At this point, I am watching for comedy because nobody can take this team seriously with the way they've been playing lately.

The team has 2 options going forward:
A) In the offseason, open the checkbook and throw ridiculous amounts at 2 top SP (not likely)

B) Trade what little we have and stock the farm for the future. Bundy and Mancini should be the only 2 off limits.

I can't imagine the team doing A. Best two will probably be Cueto and Darvish. Even with those two would our rotation be good enough? Cueto, Darvish, Bundy, Miley, and Guasman. We still would need someone to play short and RF. Plus, after 2018 Jones, Manny, Britton as well.

I think B is the best option. Smith and Castillo should have good value. Doubt anyone wants Kim, Tillman, and Jimenez.

Hope Manny and Jones have a strong June and Britton comes back strong and they can get good value for them.

In fact, you want them to perform well while the team continues to lose so that the organization's upper management would be FORCED to start a full rebuild right away.

(This is going to sound horrible... but there's a part of me that hopes that the 2017 Orioles are mathematically eliminated from the postseason by the end of August. After all, a repeat of 2015 won't send a sufficiently-strong message.)

Yea knowing Dan he'll trade a top prospect away for a 2 month rental player and we'll still miss the playoffs. Then he'll say "hey we tried this year"

Buck once again leaving a guy in a couple of batters longer than he should've. :gaah:

This team has been a chore to watch this past week.

I wouldn't have a problem with Trey batting third and putting Manny down to five or six right now. I just wish that we would stop batting Jones at the top of the lineup.

Should've never let Markakis get away. Our leadoff and outfield has been nothing but a problem since.

Jimenez pitches well against NL teams. Remember what he did against the Reds? April 19th 7 innings 0 runs. Then a AL team comes up and he gets lit up.

Can't say this would be too surprising after yesterday:

More on Hardy, All-Star voting and tonight’s game

My guess would be Janish comes up to take Hardy's spot. While I think Washington deserves to be promoted, I think that we should maybe send him back down since he's not going to get a lot of at bats with Mancini and Trumbo ahead of him in the pecking order at first base. Maybe bring Giavotella or another bullpen arm up to replace him?

I'd say Gio. He's hitting over 300 on the season at AAA. We saw Janish the last couple seasons, decent glove no offense.

Missing Hardy isn't missing to much this season.

well the Indians is a good team along with the stros so unless a lot of injuries and we play over our heads . they be tough to win in the playoffs .btw hays is moving up to aa after the break him or mullins our outfield next year could be mullins jones and hays . mountcastle is a pure hitter at short working on fielding . lucas long we could see him pitching soon a control pitcher that is nasty stuff .

Team stat of the month: As a group, Orioles pitchers have compiled 7.01 ERA, 6.31 FIP, and -0.8 WAR in June 2017 so far.

Where does that rank? Dead last in the MLB for all three categories by a mile, of course (two standard deviations or more below average, to be exact).

Need any more evidence that starting a full rebuild ASAP is the only correct move?

How about this tidbit:
The Orioles have now allowed five or more runs in 17 straight games, the second-longest streak in the past 100 years.

Hard to win games on a consistent basis that way.

So I've been all in on the idea of a reboot like the Yankees last year when they realized it wasn't worth going all in on the team they had and dumped a lot of guys and got a good return on them. This team has very limited arms at both the major league level and at Norfolk and won't go far with this staff. So I'd like to prepare for the future. But I doubt it happens as long as Dumpster Diver Dan is the GM.

Well... we have officially tied the record for infamy. Tomorrow, we'll likely break it. :L

Good-- the team needs to continue the current course. With the fifth worst run differential, they can easily end up with a top-10 pick if they try hard enough.

(In fact, they have an outside shot at getting the #1 pick-- they're only 10.5 games ahead of the Phillies right now with 89 games to go. To get there, though, the Orioles will need to find a way to stop winning at home-- that 24-14 home record is not going to help with the goal of tanking the rest of the season for a faster rebuild process!)
