Sens D prospect Thomas Chabot with 3 goals and 7 assists in a 4 game sweep over Rimouski. Leads all players in scoring in the Q playoffs.

IMO, the best Sens prospect since Karlsson.

When he came back from the WJC he didn't seem to be playing to his potential, same as when he was first sent back from Ottawa. Sometimes he seemed disinterested and other times it seemed like he would try to do too much on his own (which worked out some of the time). He definitely seems to have brought his game back up a notch for the playoffs. I don't think he's quite back to WJC form yet, but I have a feeling the further he goes in the playoffs and hopefully Memorial Cup, the better he will play.

Also worth mentioning that even though it was a 1 vs. 16 sweep, the Sea Dogs only scored more than 5 goals once when they got 9 in game 1. So it's not like he was collecting all those points in 4 blowouts.

#14 seed Val D'Or upset the #3 seed Shawinigan in 6 games. Probably one of the biggest upsets in the Q since Shawinigan was upset in the 2nd round a few years ago, only this time they won't have the fact that they are Memorial Cup hosts to give them a 2nd life.

Kind of bizarre out in the Eastern Conference Dub playoffs, two series were sweeps and the other two series are going the distance.

Lethbridge completes the comeback against Red Deer winning after being down 3-1. Lethbridge vs the Hat in the the next round should be fun :)

As you know, John, it's a pretty intense rivalry (not quite as intense as Edmonton - Calgary), but there's no doubt that the two cities have a strong distaste for each other. Go Tigers Go!

The Q's second round is under way. In one of the matchups Saint John has outshot Val D'Or 122-32 in the first two games.

The Sea Dogs won game 1 2-1 in OT and the second 4-1. Somewhere in Val D'Or there is a goalie hooked up to an IV right now. Holy Christ.

Yes we heard that undrafted 19 year old goalie Etienne Montpetit was the main reason the Val D'Or was able to upset Shawinigan and this past weekend we saw how good he was. I never saw a goaltending performance like I did in Game 1 before. The final shots were 68-14 but the Sea Dogs needed 10 minutes of overtime to beat them 2-1.

So that raises 2 questions. How is this kid not drafted and how did Val D'Or finish so low in the standings with him in net? I always heard he was one of the better goalies in the Q but it seems he has stepped it up big time for the playoffs. His team is down 2-0 but he's the only reason the games have been close. He didn't quite steal the show to the same extent in Game 2 but he saved 50 of 53 shots, with the 4th goal being an empty netter.

Speedy Creek wins game 3 in OT to take a 2-1 series lead. Regina was the top ranked team in the country for most of the season and they are in a spot of trouble at the moment.

Another OT win for Speedy Creek (this time in triple OT) pushes Regina to the brink of elimination as the Broncos take a 3-1 stranglehold lead in the series. Also, the Tigers are in a little trouble as they trail Lethbridge 2-1 in their series.

How about those boys in Swifty eh? Always nice to see them do well. I like to see the cities is small towns succeed and it doesn't get any smaller than Swift Current, in least in terms of being able to field a WHL team. The Tigers got a huge OT win to tie their series with Lethbridge at 2. It's now a best of 3.
