KPMG has excluded these amounts from their compilation of the figures but did not state the reason for doing so,” Smith wrote.

KPMG senior vice-president James McAuley, who wrote the CHL report, declined to comment.

Smith also said that the Calgary Hitmen paid $187,250 in “other professional fees” in 2016

Curious to see where this goes. If they rule that teams have to pay players minimum wage then what? Do they really think a team like Swift Current or Kootenay can cover the costs of running a hockey club and scholarships and wages without major help from outside money? I don't see it. And what about in places like BC and Washington state where WHL teams have already been exempted from labor laws by the provincial and state governments? What happens there? This whole thing is shaping up to be a giant mess.

There is a certain traditional occupation whose practitioners are, as I understand it, sometimes referred to as "pros". That was the thought/joke that came to my mind first.

I think the London Knights are doing better than a lot of CFL teams...

Ryan Pyette ‏@RyanatLFPress
Well, just got a look at the @GoLondonKnights financial numbers. Waited a long time for this day. They're a money-making machine.

Ryan Pyette ‏@RyanatLFPress
The Knights, in 2015 (the only year in the past 5 they didn't play in the Memorial Cup, they saw $6.26M in revenue.

Ryan Pyette ‏@RyanatLFPress
Their 2015 net income was $1.87 million ($3.7M in expenses) and that was on the lower side of the past half-decade (lost in 2nd round).

Ryan Pyette ‏@RyanatLFPress
In the 2013 OHL championship year (Bo Horvat buzzer-beater), the Knights had a whopping $7.6M in revenue, but $4.6M in expenses.

Working for a CHL franchise years ago and walking into the office every morning with a number written in red on a white board, sort of makes me shake my head to all of this...

For every London, there's 5 Prince Georges, V'Al Dors and Peterboroughs...

and yet ...

The Prince George Cougars, for example, lost money three years in a row between 2012 and 2014 but still sold for $6.4 million in 2015

Wasn't Olympian Dan Hamhuis one of the owners of the Prince George Cougars?

With a 5-0 victory tonight over the Moncton Wildcats, the Sea Dogs clinch 1st overall in the Q for the 4th time in their 12 year history. That being said, they should have no trouble reaching the semis for the 6th time in those 12 years.

During the previous 5 trips to the semis, they have 3 finals appearances, 2 league championships, and 1 Memorial Cup. As for the other 6 seasons? They have a combined total of 1 playoff victory.

Well 5 of the 8 Q series' ended tonight with sweeps, with another at 3-1.

What's interesting is that the only 2 series that are tied 2-2 after 4 games, are the 2 vs. 15 and the 3 vs. 14 matchups.

Considering there are only 18 teams in the league (meaning some very weak teams get in among the 16) and that bottom feeders always sell off any decent players they have around Christmas, the #2 and #3 seeds really shouldn't have any trouble getting through the first round. The fact those series' are both guaranteed to go 6 games is already somewhat of an upset regardless of the final outcome.

Damnit Dasher. Didn't peg ya for a royals fan

I like that kid Matthew Phillips, I think he might be smaller than Johnny Gaudreau though.

/As for the Tigers, a first round sweep of the Wheat Kings. Keep it going, boys.

Sens D prospect Thomas Chabot with 3 goals and 7 assists in a 4 game sweep over Rimouski. Leads all players in scoring in the Q playoffs.

IMO, the best Sens prospect since Karlsson.
