Well the west coast trip starts tomorrow night against SF. This is gonna be a huge trip, Our Reds gotta start hitting the ball. A lot of people are saying this trip could make or break us.
Monday-Giants
Tuesday-Doubleheader VS Giants
Wednesday-Giants
Thursday-Dodgers
Friday-Dodgers
Saturday-Dodgers
Sunday-Dodgers
Monday-Padres
Tuesday-Padres
Wednesday-Padres

This road trip is gonna be along one, but hopefully its one we look back on with how good are Reds are playing. Right now we stand at 5 games back. The time is now for the Reds to kick it into gear and start playing Reds baseball.

The way the Reds have played on the road, this could be the final dagger in their season. It would probably be good for all of us because this team is agonizing to watch.

I go for 4-7 and that's optimistic.

Split with the Giants and Dodgers, win the Pads series 2-1. A 6-5 road trip then we come home and dance on the dirty birds' faces.

Now here's what I really think. 4-7 road trip then lose 2 of 3 to the dirty birds, and it's essentially over.

St. Louis already had its "monthly" issues.
We rowed our boat in a circle this weekend and with 65 or so to play, you either make hay or you graze with the sheep. It's past the point of saying "it's still early."

No, it ain't. I don't have the nervous system to sit through a wild-card play-in game.

Expecting .500 on the road is what good teams do, and I haven't checked St.Louis schedule, but unless they're on the road in doubting they play as poorly as .500.

If this team goes 4-7, I'd say they'll be 8 back when they get back home.

The only tough matchup is the Dodgers. The Giants and Padres are struggling just as much as we are. I think our Reds will do way better then 4-7.

I disagree. I think the home records of the Reds upcoming road opponents indicate they win regulary at home. I think many would agree the Dodgers and Giants are both better teams than they've played so far this year, and the Padres have improved. I'd be thrilled with 6 wins, and not surprised if we only came back with 5 wins in the 11 games. I think the Reds are under .500 over the last 60 games or so, so momentum isn't on their side. I'm not optimistic about starting 2 rookies in the DH, or with the Reds ability to score runs in big parks. 4 win predictions have some validity.

That said, even though there are more than 2 full months if season left, this trip could be the deciding factor in how the Reds go this season . If they come back 8 games down, it also will effect their wildcard position adversely. Choo and Arroyo are free agents. Bailey, Cueto, Latos and others will be looking at potential substantial raises via arbitration. Bruce, Phillips, Votto, Chapman and Ryan Ludwick all get substantial contract increases next year. The trade deadline is looming. If the Reds fall down, they could decide to pack or in and get something for Choo and Arroyo, or dump some salary in favor of retooling again.

no question that this 2013 season hinges on this road trip. Why do you ask? Well, if you cant beat the Giants, Dodgers, and Pads on the road--you ain't gonna do jack shit in the playoffs anyway. Look for a 3-8 road trip and Dusty to blame it all on the exhaustion incurred by traveling.

Could be we dodged a big bullet tonight with the pasting and the long outing by Bronson.
Bochy left Kontos in to take the brunt of the mess.
Zito will be tougher.

Great Win tonight, everything went right. Needed a game like this. 11-0 shutout and then the great catch by Drob to save shutout. Hopefully the offense explosion gets the offense going and we can get some momentum going. 1-0 GO REDS!

Feet to the fire now for people who say Dusty prefers the veterans.
Cingrani and Reynolds are not exactly that.
Couldn't ask for a more tense scenario, if you get all tense about unscheduled doubleheaders.
Being the home team in the first game seems weird.
I will seriously be happy with a split in this one.

I like taking 3 of 4 on the road, losing only the home game.
How weird is that?

Greinke and Kershaw are up next. Both are a tad better than Surheimer and Gaudin.

Well my prediction of a 3-8 road trip looks unlikely as the bats seem to have woken up. Once we see Dodger pitching for 3 days, I will access whether or not this is an anomaly or the start of a real trend.
