The upside is that we didn't lose ground.
A game here or there isn't a big problem. Kershaw is supposed to be tough.
It's those lame-ass middin' lefties with 45 million pitches on their shoulder that we should be beating.
Problem is, the Parrots don't figure to lose 2 of 3 to the Fish.
Atlanta matches up pretty well with the Birds.

Cardinals and Pirates play each other 5 times this week with 2 on tuesday. Our Reds need to get some W's in this series with SD, and we are gonna gain ground some how as long as we win.

Without winning the divisional title, the only advantage now is to remain in 2nd or 3rd overall. The one-game play-in is a crap shoot. The divisional winner gets home field advantage. All the Reds need to do is decide whether to be the team they said they were ... or be the type of team that Dusty ends up with ... underachievers.

wow cant believe that just happn. Unfreaking believable, that is a heart breaker. Not only the way we lost to SD tonight, but to only score 1 run. Damn our Reds gotta step it up.

There's nothing more exciting in baseball than a walk off home run; unless your the team walking off instead of running onto the field.

Got to take advantage of the early scoring opportunities to give the pen a little room for error.

Hey, 5-6 wasn't inconceivable...but do you expect to gain ground that way ? Anytime you score 1-2 runs, against a plus .500 team, you need to expect to lose most of them. The Cardinals don't do anything better than the Reds except hit, and win. I think they are related.

3-11 was my initial thought and then like a thunderstorm, 30 runs were scored against SF. And again like fast a moving thunderstorm, the sun shined and the drought set right back in. 4-10 looking much more realistic now. I will go to my grave preaching these fucking bums coaching this team are the reason for the underachievement. They never improve and continue to do the same shit for the last 3 fucking years. Doesn't that show you something? It is so pathetic, I really would be happy to see a tank if it guaranteed getting these idiots on a slow moving boat to the Mississippi. It is just unbearable to watch such a miserable effort at playing baseball.

Well there's that. If you can't gain ground when the frontrunners struggle...when do you ?

The Reds needed to win just 2 more games out of 11 this trip to make negligible headway. Every time that happens, it forces them to sweep a series at home instead of just winning 2....and they didnt just get beat, they best themselves plenty... Painting toward that corner. Lots of crunch time games against Cards, Pirates coming up. In the immortal words of Yoda, "Do, or do not. There is no try"

I'm not one to believe the old adage that a crash landing on Mars is OK, even if it proved you could get to Mars.

The pathetic offense didn't exactly come out of a funk today. It was just that Bailey proved the only way this team is viable is for the pitcher to give up zero runs.
