Can someone explain to me why this is a penalty?

It worked out well for WCW.

Not really actually, that was seen by many as the beginning of the end for WCW.

I guess you could argue there was a little extra umph at the end, but jesus H, the game isn't played in slo mo

I agree with this when I saw it the only thing I could see is that he did try extra hard to push him into the ground. He knew he had the guy down but the extra effort is what got the call.

Zimmer even agreed saying it was a good call once he got to see it. The Vikes are good at using extra effort on QBs

Mike Zimmer: Helmet hit rule will cost people 'jobs'

The penalty immediately drew angst from the Vikings sideline, but coach Mike Zimmer ultimately agreed with the call upon reviewing the tape.

"After I calmed down a little bit, I looked at it and he was, his head was to the side and he was going to the side and if he would've just rolled, but he kind of pumped him into the turf," Zimmer said Monday, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. "I actually think that was a good call."

QBs are pussies who take up the largest percentage of the salary cap compare to any other position. So once again, the NFL is going overboard in trying to protect their investments.
QBs are also the most vulnerable. They stand in the pocket, plant and throw all very vulnerable positions to be in. Hit hard as hell cleanly, I have no problem. But when they are planting and throwing they do need to be protected form having their knees taken out. The NFL protects linemen so they don't get their knees blown out while engaged. Are linemen pussies as well? Just look at the list of lower leg injuries in the game. A good portion even come during practice, let alone a game. Same goes for pile driving a QB. Players are also protected against this. It happens to QBs more due to the vulnerable position they are in.

He won the MVP in 2002. Granted, there wasn't much competition that year and his game was just dink and dunk at that point.
Thats all he had left after the moose destroyed his shoulder.

while I agree with most of your points. I think receivers are most vulnerable. Especially with the way some of these QBs throw nowadays. Which you could throw in with your other points about rules to protect players. You're not suppose to cream them anymore, even with a legal hit. (defenseless player & all)

Yep it sure does pay having a QB that doesn't leave his receivers to hang out and dry.

WRs typically only have one guy, maybe two coming at them, and only only plays where they are targeted relatively accurately. QBs have 4-5 guys trying to take them out on every play. But sure, WRs are vulnerable, and that's why there are rules about contact with defenseless receivers.

A) Why were the Vikings playing a high school team with the most drab uniforms in the country?

B) There was absolutely no reason a flag should have been thrown on that play. That was one of the cleanest hits I've ever seen.

Just about time to call it the No Football League. This isn't football. It's Sissy Ball, were everyone is treated as fragile as a faberge egg.
