Coach Tyronn Lue said he had no plans to use Larry Sanders in meaningful minutes on Friday night against the Hornets.

The Cavs are on the front end of a back-to-back set and play the Wizards on Saturday night, so there is absolutely a chance for rest tonight. Still, Sanders likely won't be making an impact until the last week of the regular season.

“With everything he’s going through, all the teammates are proud of him because it’s not easy playing with that hand,” Goran Dragic said. “He was unbelievable to have an impactful game like he had with 13 stitches and at one point he twisted his ankle and he was a dominant force.

“He was our best player out there. I wish we could have won this game for him.”

Josh Richardson said the team let Whiteside know “how proud” they were of him for just playing.

“Two years ago he missed a couple of games,” Richardson said, referring to late in the 2014-15 season when Whiteside missed four games total because of a similar injury.

“That shows how far he’s come, how he’s matured. He’s our best player. For him to come out and play with a cut hand it gives everybody that much more confidence.”

Whiteside, 27, signed a $98 million max contract last summer. Still, he has dealt with maturity issues this season and at times has been removed from games by coach Erik Spoelstra because of a lack of effort.

Spoelstra, though, believes Whiteside has turned the corner and has praised his center more recently for the impact he has had on games despite not posting up eye-popping numbers.

Whiteside continues to lead the league with 14.2 rebounds per game while averaging 16.8 points and 2.1 blocked shots. He is shooting 56 percent.

“It was a physical game, he really gave us a presence in the paint,” Spoelstra said. “That was very inspiring just to see him out there battling. Most nights a player would not play.”

Whiteside sat at his locker following the game with his right hand in a plastic bag and his left ankle wrapped in tape after twisting it late in the fourth quarter. He brushed off the ankle injury, saying it wasn’t as “crazy” as Dion Waters’ sprained ankle, “more just annoying.” Waiters is out indefinitely after spraining his left ankle.

“I wanted this,” he said. “I don’t want to look back and be like, ‘Damn, I wish I would have played. We would have been in the playoffs right now,’ in April or May while everybody else is in the playoffs. I’m going to just give what I can give.”

at least he is honest and speaks his mind instead of kissing ass.

I dont like the HEat. I dont like the Lakers. I dont like the Warriors. I dont like the Knicks. Its refreshing to actually see someone speak there mind instead of being afraid to offend someone elses favorite team and get on their bad side.
Meh.....the only Team I truly loathe is the Lakers.

But, that's mostly due to years and years of the Clippers winning 20 games and the Lakers having parades.

Whiteside may have been a stupid cvnt at the beginning of his career. But given what he's been through in terms of the downs of his career, to see where he's at now and how he handles himself, it's a pretty good story. Keep striving big fella.

Which astute Heat fan called this?

The smartest man on SportsHoopla or my cyber boy-toy, side piece?

Tyronn Lue confirmed that, for now, Derrick Williams would be the odd-man out of his rotation with Love, J.R. Smith, and Kyle Korver all healthy. Williams had been a mainstay on Cleveland’s second unit with James, Korver, Channing Frye, and Richard Jefferson. His playing time started to dip with the arrival of backup point guard Deron Williams.

After a bit of a slide the Raptors are after getting it back together. Don't think they get #1, but I think they may get #2 or #3 in the East.
