It was because you said five years, I was just pointing out that it has been six years, 2010-2015.

I like to take jabs at Texas for their "We want higher academics" stance that they like to take, yet, year after year after year, somehow, Texas "athlete academics" doesn't seem to hold up. Texas is a fantastic university for academics for the non-athlete, no doubt about it.

BTW, Texas Jefe, I think you are one of the smart, good, and fair Texas posters on this forum. You and StarbigD will admit certain failings that Texas has, whereas, some others will not, no matter how much evidence is thrown at them. I am even beginning to like Texasexes and he and I have a long history of antipathy towards each other.

SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!!!!!! :suds:

I just hoping that Nebraska and Texas can play in the bluebonnet bowl next year

some bowl would be good. Let's make it a bigger bowl, that would be, to quote Bert Beliemma, 'borderline erotic'.

It's 8 wins minimum for C.S. this year. Anything less, and it's hello Tom Herman (or somebody else). We have 2 major, big time boosters in our Texas Exes chapter who are always in the know and that's what they are saying. This isn't asking for the impossible either. We were an ass hair away from 8 wins last year if it wasn't for incompetent coaching. THE TALENT IS THERE! It's time to shit or get off the pot Coach Strong!!!

As someone mentioned above, it is indeed all about the quarterback.

When Texas was good, we had VY and Colt McCoy (and Major Applewhite and heaven help me, Chris Sims AT TIMES).

My hope is this new system, which is quarterback friendly and much easier for a college guy to run than Shawn Watson's 'NFL think-about-it-after-the-snap and then run through your progressions, and then calculate who to throw to offense...

A corollary to this is receivers who make your QB better by catching everything: we got one in John Burt, who was FR last year, and getting Collin Johnson, 6-6, 220, early enrollee FR now, who's already impressed everyone who's seen him. Guys like these two will help tremendously. We've had some poor receivers the last five...er Six, years that had frying pan hands.

Holy shit, Johnson is a freak!!! If Gilbert can really turn this offense around, I'm not sure how anybody can stop the tandem of Johnson and Burt. Then we have the 2 headed monster in the backfield with Warren and Foreman. Gilbert was literally handed the keys to a Ferrari. I don't think our QB's are that bad (except Swoopes, he has no business starting. Keep rolling with the 18 wheeler package, but that's it), I just think it had to do with having 2 of the worst OC's in NCAA history and the worst QB coach ever, along with an overrated and overpaid OL coach in Wickline. Just some bad coaching altogether. There is a reason Strong has cleaned house on his coaching staff in only year 3.

James Taylor – Steamroller Lyrics
Well, I'm a steamroller, baby
I'm bound to roll all over you
Yes, I'm a steamroller now, baby
I'm bound to roll all over you
I'm gonna inject your soul with some sweet rock 'n roll
And shoot you full of rhythm and blues

Well, I'm a cement mixer
A churning urn of burning funk
Yes, I'm a cement mixer for you, baby
A churning urn of burning funk
Well, I'm a demolition derby (yeah)
A hefty hunk of steaming junk

Now, I'm a napalm bomb, baby
Just guaranteed to blow your mind
Yeah, I'm a napalm bomb for you, baby
Oh, guaranteed, just guaranteed to blow your mind
And if I can't have your love for my own (now)
Sweet child, won't be nothing left behind
It seems how lately, baby
Got a bad case steamroller blue

I am way more excited about the potential of but and Johnson, than Warren and Foreman. QB is an issue. Heard and Swoopes have not shown the ability to read a defense. I do think having the offensive coaches on the same page will help. Texas had some good individual position coaches, but they were not the best team guys.

Can't really agree with you here. Swoopes is possibly the best PASSER on this team right now. Heard is a backup, nothing more. Buechele isn't physically ready, and Locksley probably needs to move to WR.

Unless they find a JUCO QB, I'd lay odds Swoopes is our starter. Heard couldn't complete 5 yard slants, his inaccuracy doomed him. Defenses basically dared us to throw last year, and we couldn't do it.

I'm not a Swoopes fan either.......I just don't think we have ONE QB worthy of starting. All of them have major flaws.

Umm unless you have some superstar Quarterback that we are not aware of, you are not going to be steamrolling anyone except maybe Rice, Iowa St, UTEP and Kansas. You will be eating these words and looking for a job if you are not prophetic. It is nut up or shut up time for Charlie Strong. He will not be given a 5th year if he doesn't win at least 9 or 10 games.

This is sad, because it's true. Anything I can say that is positive about the QB position is that there are now 5 QBs on campus competing for being the starter. This may seem normal to most fans, but Texas has had 1-2 QBs competing for the job the last 2 years. That probably explains more about the situation, than anything else I could say

I sort of agree. Swoopes and Heard need to improve a lot, but I won't say Heard is a lot cause yet.. Buchele is the first true QB recruited in a long time. The others were athletes playing QB. Nothing wrong with taking high ceiling/low floor guys, unless you are just picking between 2 young ones.

8 wins? I was thinking more like 10.

I doubt he needs 8 wins.

He needs to show vast improvement and the team be competitive. If he has 7 wins, and no real blowouts, but hard fought losses I find it hard to believe he'll be let go.

He's still fielding a team with nearly all underclassmen. There isn't a coach in the country that should be expected to win most of their games with a roster like that.

Let's try being a little more realistic gentlemen. I'm sure he'll be under a TON of pressure......but unless you already think he should be fired there's no reason to entertain firing him with THIS team.

I have been told by teja$ fan that a 3 point win is a curb stomping. You guys, by teja$ logic, were ass raped...

It helps if you watch the games. Margin of victory doesn't mean the game was any less dominating. If your team can't manage an offensive TD, and your stats are less than half your average, you pretty much got dominated.

It happens all the time.
