Yep, that was my reaction, too.

Mine also....

The "wait til next year" chant is around the corner...

Beating up on the sox and twins, now beating the mets minus wright today....did u see the mets lineup? Pretty sad..bunch of lil slappy hitters.....still gotta beat who you play, but i feel once the royals play tougher teams, they will wilt......they do still give the tigers fits....but theres no way they win more than 3 in the 5 game series coming up....if they do win 3, they only make up one game anyways.....tigers just have to avoid getting swept from here on out.

Stupid Mets fan just committed fan interference and didn't get caught.

:L Jim Joyce of course doesn't notice there is an extra hat on the field all of the sudden.

Kind of creepy that cleaves can't go one day without mentioning me. Saw a few on the Tiger's board as well. See, to cleaves, if I talk to someone, I am ''stalking'' them. That guy worries about ME more than he does his own kids. Sadly.
Yanking the short hairs - and cleaves is still jumping. Amazing.

I actually liked this trade Dayton Moore made for once.

What did they give up for him?

Sadly for KC fans.. their team will never win as long as Dayton Moore is Gm and David Glass owns them... and a good gm is not coming to KC as long as Glass is there... The scouting in KC is well below average.. with the team getting top 10 and top 5 picks yearly.. and rarely having them pan out... development of talent is below average as well.. with guys like Moustakas regressing and no pitcher from their farm doing anything in the starting lineup in years. and other than greinke decades... Without payroll.. a team can't win without good scouts and developmental coaches in the minors.. the royals have none of this. The marlins, rays, a's, diamondbacks, and mariners scouts put the royals to shame... and unlike teams like the tigers or yankees who can get by without good home grown talent... the royals don't have the money to buy established players... I joke when I say its possible that the royals may never go to the playoffs ever again.. and unless a salary cap comes around.. which one won't... it could be true... seriously.. 27 years of developing players with high picks... and what is there to show for it.. name a royals player from the last 10 years that has went to multiple all star games...

At least when the twins or indians pick high.. something comes from it and they are able to develop it into big league average at best talent... the royals scouts should not be employed.. period. When farms from teams that pick at the back end of the first round like the red sox, rangers, and rays can outperform your higher picks yearly... you have an issue... Bubba Starling is just the most recent pick blown... Tigers every year have a farm team ranked in the bottom quarter.. yet they seem to produce usable mlb players just as often.. and trade their prospects yearly for talented mlb players... any ways.. my rant is over.. the royals are the worst run team in pro sports... not even the Clippers, Browns or Lions have managed to miss on as many draft picks or playoff appearances as the Royals...

They gave up Kyle Smith, an A-ball pitcher who is a poor man's Odorizzi at best. aka a non-prospect.

First of all, the Royals are winning right now.

Second, how the hell did the Royals farm system rank #1 not only in baseball just a few short years ago, but was the #1 system in the HISTORY of farm systems?

Moustakas is regressing? News to me, he has been hitting around .270 the last two months and has been hitting for power since July. His OPS was above 800 in July btw.

No pitchers in the system? That will likely change with two top 50 prospects in Zimmer and Ventura; you can't really dismiss a power throwing lefty like Duffy who has always profiled to fit in the starting rotation (Duffy is in AAA, so is Ventura, Zimmer will probably get to AAA at the end of the year if he keeps performing in AA). All the pitchers I have listed profile as top of the rotation candidates on a pure talent basic, not due to any perceived shittyness of the Royals staff. Paulino will more than likely be retained by the Royals. You are basically betting all 4 of these pitchers will be awful. No payroll? Funny, the Cardinals have payrolls well over 100 million... funny what winning will do? TV contracts are rolling around, and the pricetags for free agents aren't going to jump up wildly in the next few years. Admittedly, the Royals aren't in the best position right now, but the only way to really say for sure the impact of the TV contracts down the line is to see the results.

Dayton Moore actually drafts Boras Clients? Totally different philosophy from previous GMs like Baird. Again, his drafting and scouting have not been the problem with this team, if anything, it has been rushing players to the bigs and some boneheaded trades that have caused more problems.

Draft picks mostly fail regardless of the organization, Buxton and Sano are just as likely to fail as Moustakas and Hosmer, deal with it. Oh wait, you are probably going to tell me how awesome Castellanos is and how he will make the Royals system look stupid!

Bubba Starling is a bust? How old is he again? Get serious, Miamivice.

Last Royals player to make multiple all-stars? Well, funny thing is, they were traded wise guy. Does the name Carlos Beltran ring a bell? I will bet you anything Perez is a multiple all-star player down the line if not next year.

Usable talent? Over the past 27 Years or the past 10... or 5. Bit too large to just make that statement on the fly. Considering your post focused on the present GM and his supposedly bad drafting/player development skills, I will call bullshit on this too.

Worst team in the past 27 years? Sure, but what about now?

Have the Royals been awesome developing players in the past? Not at all, especially pitchers, that is why they were awful in the past. There is no reason to spend money on a shit team, period. They have been much better at drafting under Moore. The past has little bearing on the present. The Future isn't doom and gloom on paper; we will find out though, but I don't see it.I have seen a hopeless front office, but it had more to do with Baird and poor drafting than anything else. Moore having so much leeway in the draft and international signings leads me to believe that it was shitty development that prevented the Royals from winning, especially pitching up to the 2010.

Buxton and Sano are just as likely to fail as Moustakas and Hosmer

I think what Vice meant on Moustakas is that as a whole he has regressed. His overall year is pretty shit. He hasn't gotten better from when he first became a big leauger.

Saying Buxton and Sano are comparable to Hosmer and Moustakas in terms of chances to fail is flat out hilarious.

Not even close to the same thing. Buxton is a rare breed 5 tool player. Moustakas and Hosmer were never even close to as highly regarded.

As prospects it isn't that outlandish. Check again.

edit: I humbly disagree, but I don't blame you for that opinion either.

Buxton is the #1 prospect in his 1st full year. Sano is #3 at 20 years old.

Moustakas was very good rated for 3 years and finally ended at a great 9 but it took him time to even be regarded that high and he dropped drastically one year.

Hosmer was steady and got up here quick. 8 is good. But not anything regarded as what Buxton is as a 5 tool drawing Mike Trout comparisons for his game.

Hosmer doesn't have the 5 tools. He was regarded as a great hitter, so far the power hasnt developed so that's why he hasn't lived to it.

So maybe Sano can be comparable(still better regarded). But neither of these guys touch Buxton.

Not saying they won't fail. Just saying the liklihood isnt the same.

Fair enough with Buxton, I am just pointing out that many top prospects have failed. It may be a bit of a hyperbole on my part to lump Buxton along with Sano. I will concede that much.

I don't remember where I read it but one scout said Buxton is the best prospect he's ever seen...
