It is hard not to get angry watching teams run the ball down the Seahawks throat week after week. Not be able to run the ball just compounds the problem as the defense is on the field to long. If the Seahawks are sticking with the 3-4 they need to draft big boys on the DL 350 lbs DT 270-285 DEs, screw the glitzy names being tossed around by the talking heads, those guys won’t fit the 3-4.
Or dump the 3-4 and then you have players on the roster that fit that D.
Nice to see the Seahawks score, too little too late I think.

It's beyond ridiculous Harold...

I know you're getting tired of me bashing Barton... but we have a 4-3 personnel, and we're trying to run this 2-4-5 and 3-4-4 bullshit... and it's NOT going to work until you have the right defenders.. Barton would probably be fine in a true 4-3, so would Brooks, so would basically EVERY OTHER player outside of Nwosu and Harris... it's absolutely the dumbest scheme switch I've seen in NFL history.

Anyone else agree with me that getting a 1st on 4th and 8 is probably 4 times more likely than recovering an onside kick?

If I was Andy Reid, I'd throw the ball < 5 times. Just bench Mahomes.

Totally get it 234 and I honestly love your football insight, I consider you one of the more knowledgeable folks in the forum.

That said, and please feel free to critique me on this opinion: WE DO NOT HAVE THE PERSONNEL TO RUN IT EFFECTIVELY. Ugh. I get we went and got Nwosu and Harris, but everything else is suited for a 4-3... 2 does not make a complete transition. It infuriates me we're running a 3-4 this year.. and preseason 100% showed that we weren't ready for it. Ugh.
I appreciate the props buddy.

I do agree with you that we don't have the personnel to run it effectively which is why you see Bruce Irvin getting snaps over Darrell Taylor and Boye Mafe. Additionally, as much as I love Poona Ford he's not a good fit in a 3-4. He's a traditional 4-3 DT. Al Woods is a solid 3-4 NT, but he can't be expected to do it all. Mone has been getting a lot of snaps, but he's a rotational player at best. Barton is a replacement level player and Jordyn Brooks is a mid-tier ILB.

Even if we had the personnel to run a hybrid 3-4/2-4-5 I don't think that Clint Hurtt calls the right plays based on the situation. On an obvious running down he has a 2-4-5 personnel on the defense and all the HB needs to do is hit the gap between the DT and the OLB to get easy yards because we don't have the ILB talent to fill that gap.

I think it's a combination of defensive play calling and lack of personnel to run this type of defense that is the problem. I know the defensive coordinator is the first one to take the blame, but in this case I really think it falls on the defensive coaching staff in combination with a lack of appropriate personnel to run the defense.

Geno experiment is over... time to draft a QB.
We should, just not with our top picks, we need defensive help like a mouse needs cheese .. But we have tons of draft stock, definitely get a young prospect if someone is there worth the pick … Geno has been a surprise this year, he’s better than we all thought, but we can’t give him some massive contract, he’s showing he’s just not that guy..

This was a great example of this team needing a defense badly... The offense has been carrying the team this year and we see what happens when the offense doesn't have their best day.... The defense just can't get off the field...

Agree... This QB class is deep... Even after Stroud, Young and Levis... We can grab a QB later in the draft outside our first two picks...

I just don't get how no one on the sideline does the math and sees that our best case outcome punting with 6 minutes left, 1 timeout and down 2 scores is needing to recover an onside kick... or doing the math and still taking that option. And the announcers didn't mention it either... its just... blatantly obvious that a punt put you in no reasonable position to win that game, even if you assumed your defense would play well.

Yah I can't disagree with any of that... much more eloquently put than my rants during the game, lol.

My preference? Trade down with our #3 or #4 overall pick to #8 or #9, for a 1st and a 2nd rounder... Some team may want to jump into our spot to take a QB... Then Draft defense with our 1st two picks in the 1st round DL first and then LB or Safety second... Then draft another defensive player in the 2nd and use one of the other 2 seconds to get a QB...

I know... Wishful thinking... But I do want defense w/ our 1st two picks...

it’s clear, we’re not a playoff team, today showed that clearly … I’d love to see us sneak in somehow so the young guys can get some playoff experience, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen, our next 3 games are tough
