Browns QB Deshaun Watson's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, expects the NFL to make its decision on a suspension for Watson by June or July.

Watson is expected to meet with the NFL a second time after being interviewed for multiple days earlier this week. A decision on a suspension next month would likely be a best case scenario for both Watson and the Browns given the still pending 22 civil lawsuits against Watson. The league could wait until more resolution on Watson's legal situation to hand down discipline. Hardin said “no settlement talks are in the offing” in the civil suits with Watson

and the beat goes on

ESPN's Sarah Barshop reports that a 23rd civil lawsuit has been filed against Deshaun Watson.

Barshop notes that according to the petition, the plaintiff "changed her mind about filing a lawsuit after watching the HBO Real Sports piece" that aired last Tuesday. We continue to have no real update on what a reasonable timeline looks like for Watson's return for the NFL, but it's probably not great news for said timetable if more women are coming forward.

Can what this 23rd woman is saying even be done? Can you be part of the other 22 lawsuits but agree to take less than they will take? Not so sure, and saying she would might just make it seem she's not in it for the money when she really is. In addition, from what I saw she claimed she will take a lot less. If the others are asking for, say, $2 mil then 500K or even a mil would be "a lot less".

One other thing that seems odd if I read it correctly. she was abused by him 3 different times? she claims she was abused one time but still saw him again 2 more times by choice?

Maybe I read something wrong but that seems strange.

Not odd, really. He probably paid her very well, so she was willing to put up with a certain amount of aggressiveness.

We see this all the time in domestic violence cases where the abused has repeatedly returned to the abuser.

Not sure on the amount she can join and then receive, but she can always just donate the money to an abused women's shelter if she has to settle for the split amount. I think this point is really moot. She was making more of a statement that it wasn't about joining for the money, but telling her story and letting others know there are more out there (at least 1 more, her).

There is no freaking way the NFL did not already tell the Browns how many games he will be suspended before they made that deal.
And the fact they went through with the deal tells you its no more than 8 games ..probably 6.

Getting this deal done was in the best interest of both teams, NFL and Watson.
It worked for everyone but the victims I guess.

Watson will have to play like an immortal to be worth all of this drama.

Hard to believe anything at this point-really from both sides. Easy way out is to ask for money. We will see but it doesn't look good when her past lawyers terminated her representation.

You think the Browns have some kind of idea of the amount of games. The Browns are making moves like they will have Watson for at least most or half the season. Maybe Goodell said, keep it hush hush or we will extend the suspension, never know what goes on behind closed doors.

I mean Watson has the 2nd best QB rating in NFL history so far for his short career so yeah if he keeps playing like that, it will be pretty good lol.

OK, but in your comments you are saying maybe she allowed him to come back in because he paid her a lot of money.

Seems like no matter what happened she either got or is hoping to get a lot of money. Sure, she could just donate the money but she implied she doesn't really want the money. Thinking she'll take it if she wins and, yes, she should.

when this first was done (the trade) I had this thought, too.....that the Browns knew something about the parameters of a suspension.

the browns being smart now theres a novelty :suds:
wish I could disagree with this. I do like the regimes where Depodesta had a say (current and with Sashi Brown). The others? Yikes.

Hell, even when we had Belichick, Ozzie, Pioli, Dimitroff, etc. at or around the same time they made some incredible gaffes. They needed to leave to be smart.

After 14 Seasons, Romo is till 9th all time in QB rating.

Has that done anything for his legacy?
