Unless he chooses another team over the Broncos, my guess is that Hackett is THE man on Paton's list

For once, the GM and the organization align with the fans

I think it’ll be Quinn because the last 2 Head coaching hires have been first timers and so I think Paton might be a little hesitant to hire another newbie.

Why would Paton be hesitant given the last 2 guys that the Broncos hired were 1st time head coach, which Paton had nothing to do with their hiring?

I thought about that too but I think maybe he just means the overall culture of Bronco country maybe.

Realistically, I don't think Paton cares about that though. He is going to hire who he thinks is best for the job. I really don't think GM's think like fans think.

Well depending on who buys the team he may be auditioning to stay as GM so giving a rookie HC a chance might not be the best in the short term for him. Would I be shocked to see him gone if someone buys the team who already has a guy in mind they want as their GM? Absolutely not.

If we get an owner that is that involved, that is likely a bad sign. Yep don’t want a Jerry Jones/Daniel Snyder kind of owner. I want a guy who wants to be in the know, and make decisions as required, but let the football people make football decisions.

If we get an owner who doesn't keep Paton around then I might have to change my favorite team. ;)

Now that the interviews are complete, Dan Quinn noses out Hackett by one vote who we think the Broncos will select.

Thanks, everyone who voted. BTW, where is @iknowftbll? We obviously need his insights about now!

If we get a rich billionare who's just happy to have a new thing is his life and Paton is gone, sure. If we get Peyton Manning and he wants a specific guy I'm gonna trust he know's what he's doing.

So you are going trust a guy who has no history as running a franchise?

George Paton has been beyond a home run hire. You have to be pretty nit picky to find areas that he has not been successful.

Doesn't make sense to me.... If someone gets rid of Paton right away I am concerned... Until of course he proves me he can do better. Than I am all in.... But good luck to them! ;)

I basically feel like anyone who replaces Paton right now is basically replacing the equivalent of a proven franchise QB.

In other words this person better be replacing Brett Favre with Aaron Rodgers at the GM position if that is what their plan is.

I think 99% of new owners would wait til 23 to clean house if that's what they want. If we end up landing that 1% type owner that would concern me.

Billionaires don’t become Billionaires by firing competent employees that are among the best in their business.

I agree with the sentiment here, but I need this offseason to better gauge Paton ... Christian Ponder, Teddy Bridgewater, trading a first and fourth for a then crippled Sam Bradford, Case Keenum and Kirk Cousins - that isn;t exactly "home run" material ...

I know he wasn't the final say, but Paton was head of player personnel before assistant GM ... If he truly is the great GM we hope he is, he;ll be able to do better than, for example, bringing Cousins here in 2022 = it doesn;t exactly take a genius GM to get a guy who the other team wants to unload ..

If Wilson or Rodgers is in a Bronco uniform, I;m sold .. even if they;re not, there are other ways to fix this team .. just not with another bridge/middle of the road journeyman. esp an overpriced one

Paton may very well be the among the best someday - but I think he needs some more time to prove this .. Other than a miraculous, once-in-a-lifetime playoff win vs the Saints, the Vikings team he was involved with never won anything ...

On the positive side, those Vikings teams had/have some great players sprinkled throughout that roster - just never at QB .. the same could be said for the Broncos 2016-2021

Keep in mind he was not the final decision maker in Minnesota. I am sure he had a role in the process. I am judging on what he did last year, and it is hard to argue with the moves he made. I believe Teddy was a Pat Shurmur request to get his guy.
