Cowboys went into the offseason with the goal of making things dak friendly. Dez was not dak friendly. Forcing the ball over and over to a covered receiver was not smart football. With the high bust factor of receivers I hope we don't draft or reach for a receiver in round one.

He said, "Clean your fucking locker out and hit the road, Jack. And don't come back."

You are kind of like RTO was about Tony Romo getting released. If we were talking about a healthy 2014 version of Romo or Dez, they would still be here. Would yall like to see if Randy White and Drew Pearson are available for 2018 as well?
Comparing a 29 year old active reciever to players who have not suited up in 30 years is a pretty a lame comparison . If you really think Dez is so washed up, you are wrong.

They can make it friendly all they want, but they better produce!!!

If not cut Dez had a $16.5M cap hit the next two years ($33M total). They still are on the hook for the $8M this year leftover from his bonus since they cut him pre-6/1. So Over two years they save $25M
Then give that nasty old hillbilly credit for being smart enough to rid himself and the team of Bryant.

Big Red and his minions better win or Jerrah will take it out on them. All that being said, it was time for Dez to go. He had folkowership, demanded the ball, and quite frankly quit on routes and pouted too much last year. Can’t look past that as production declines. Jerrah would have kept him with a pay cut but I am sure takes out of it. We will go to a different offense next year.

Jerry did not even offer him a pay cut. He cut him outright.

There are a lot of good WR's in this years draft. Boone St has two.

Just read a stat. Aren't your numbers supposed to be better when throwing to your best players?
From 2016 which we thought was Dez's better year with Dak:
2016 Dez's catch % was 52% while Dak was completing 67%. That is a crazy spread.

2017 Dez catch % again 52%. Dak dropped to 63% but still much better when throwing to everyone else and also was ranked 12 spots better than Wentz who I read played like the league MVP or something.

Then I did some math shit (cause I be all smart) and came up with this:
Dak's "horrible" 2017 comp % to everyone other than Dez was: 67%. Drew Brees was an insane 72%. Everyone else was 67% and lower. 2016 it was 71% to everyone other than Dez. This by the way in 2017 was when our top RB in receptions was like 43rd in the league in receptions. The more you think about it the more it sure sounds like a smart idea to say goodbye to Dez. Even if Dez puts up great numbers he only earns his salary. If he goes 75 1000 8 he doesn't come close to earning what his salary was here and still makes cutting him the right move..

Here is another one. The last 3 years combined Dez caught exactly 1 out of every 2 balls thrown his way. That sucks even if Kellen Moore is your only QB the entire time.

I'm no expert, but I don't think that's what they meant when they coined the phrase "a 50/50" ball...

Wow. Keep piling on Dez. I guess somebody has to take the blame.

I would say most QBs completion numbers are a lot better to RBs and TEs compared to WRs

I was going to post something on this the other day but decided not to because I didn't want to "pile on" with Dez.

Now that jarntt has, there's more statistical evidence that it was the right move to cut Dez...

1) when throwing to Dez, Dak was was twice as likely to be picked off as when throwing to all the other receivers;

2) when throwing to Dez, Dak's passer rating was just below NFL average, as opposed to when throwing to all other receivers he was in the top five;

3) when throwing to Dez, passes were nearly twice as likely to be drops (as in "not an errant pass") as when throwing to all the other receivers.

There are other stats that become further weight, but with what jarntt posted and these, it's more than enough evidence that it was the right move, if for no other reason than the money saved in comparison to the production received.
