This is the weirdest situation I can recall in maybe ever. That's about all I can come up with to comment on. From the player and organization involved, its just so out of left field that it baffles the mind

Think something similar happened with Derrick Rose during his Bulls days. Thought he was supposed to return around March or something after tearing his ACL the previous April. Rose was cleared by doctors but just opted not to return because he wasn't confident in it. Pretty sure he got ripped by a lot of people for this.

The local media is laughing their asses. The national media is often quarantined and kept out of the Spurs business. The local guys who spend every waking second with the Spurs emphatically deny this as FAKE NEWS.

The SPURS are notoriously closed lipped.
Always trust the local guys when it comes to the NBA.

2 players have also claimed this story is completel made up bullshit already on the record (Green, Paul).

Woj used to be good, but once he joined ESPN a few months ago. He has been absorbed into the rat race.
ESPN forces you to be FIRST instead of CORRECT.

Yeah....

Sure this meeting never took place to address Kawhi.

Woj just talking out of his ass

Yeah, he totally made it up.

I’d be down to watch the Spurs go down in the flames for the next decade.

The meeting happened. It wasn't tense. It was the veterans of the team asking Kawhi if he knew when he was coming back, and he said no. Media blowing this way out of proportion.

I dont have anything against the spurs in general, but it would sure be fun watching that crotchety fuckface coach of theirs, having to eat a shit sandwich for awhile

Ha. I believe the players over Woj. There's literally 0 reason for me to believe that there would all of a sudden be a ton of tense emotion in the locker room if there never was before. Sorry I believe my own teams players. Don't know what to tell you.

Why would the players come out and tell the media if the meeting was tense or not?

Players only meeting at this point of the season to question why the hell a certain player is still out doesn't sound like a calm meeting IMO.

Having a players only meeting to address a player never sounds good

Of course it doesn't sound good. But nobody knows the facts and everything is being made to look like the world is falling when we have no real idea what is really going on. You won't believe the players because they're not just gonna come out and say it. I'm just not a fan of how this is being portrayed. Nobody has any idea, regardless of what the media reports.

It's clear as day what Kawhi's doing. He wants his super max contract. He saw what happened with IT playing through an injury and it cost him millions. Now, obviously Kawhi and IT aren't the same talent-level. But if there was $200 million at risk, I can see why he's not playing.

You really think the players are going to say they came at Kawhi's throat for not playing even though he's been cleared? If so, I'd like to take a minute to explain to you how the real world works.

But Woj gets his information, not only from players, but from personnel across the NBA franchises as well. It's possible that the players didn't talk, but can you say the same for Spurs personnel or player agents?

Some of you guys need to ditch homer goggles and act like nothing bad can happen to your team.

I just don't think it's all as bad as the media is panning it out to be. There's obviously an issue there. I'm saying I don't think it's as bad as what is being led on. Pretty much what someone else said here. Woj was right in a way, but I really don't think he got the "tense" part right. Some people were saying Kawhi walked out, for fucks sake.

I LITERALLY SAID "the players aren't gonna come out and say it" in the second post you quoted.
