True Lakers Fan
Los Angeles Lakers Fan
Suddenly the players are really good and now Magic Johnson and Pelinka are thinking about moving the free agency to 2019 for several reasons
The Lakers realize that LeBron to Los Angeles is not likely to happen @ChiefsLakers67 will be extremely happy about this - lol
The Lakers chances of landing Paul George have diminished
If this squad as improved enough to win 50% of the time, then missing the playoffs would disappear
Another good thing about waiting is Luol Deng would become an expiring contract so they could waive him next summer and stretch his salary which would come out to 3.6 million instead of 18 million for the 2019 season, but as an expiring contract - there almost always is some one looking to take him for a draft and to unload better talent.
Most important - Lonzo Ball, Kuzma and the entire gang will be a much improved team that might be ready to do more with only one good signing
My last thought is - If Paul George is still serious about coming to the Lakers - they could still be a pretty good team next year, but that would depend on If George is willing to wait a year or two be on a contending team vs the opportunity to be on one this summer. I kind of thought he was long shot any way.
