Disagree. I don't think this trade does anything to convince Lebron to stay. He's not waiting around to see if some rookie will be a great player in 3-4 years. About the only way that pick helps convince Lebron to stay is if the Cavs trade it for a really good player.

IT isn't going to convince him to stay. First of all, the Cavs will have to convince him to stay and second, he's Kyrie's mini-me.. Lebron already knows what he and Kyrie can do vs. a healthy Warriors. He certainly can't expect to do any better with IT.

It isn't really fair to tie LeBron's decision in with the long term implications of the trade. Reports before the deal were that he was 100% leaving. That may still be his mindset.

But, if that pick hits 1 or 2, or is flipped for a player like Cousins and he decides to stay? 100% long term win for Cleveland. If Cleveland uses the pick and that player becomes their new franchise star, it is again a long term win regardless of what LeBron does.

The Celtics will be better than Cleveland if LeBron leaves. That doesn't automatically mean they win the long term of this trade, because he was planning to leave before it was made. If that player turns into a legit superstar, the Celtics are big time losers.

I don't see him staying if the Cavs keep the pick, even if it hits 1 or 2. I definitely see him staying if they can flip it for someone like Boogie though.

For him to stay, I think the Cavs have to make a move that he feels gives them a legit shot at the Warriors. A rookie isn't doing that, even a 1 or 2 pick.

it does make me laugh the 2nd rounder the Cavs got is originally from Miami--- a pick they dealt in a salary dump of Zoran Dragic. Good Ole Mick- using his picks to save $. I REALLY hope that pick becomes Manu Ginobili/Isiah Thomas/Jae Crowder 2.0...lol

i dunno about that. lol

Bagley seems to be the best prospect since Anthony Davis--- and Porter i dont think is too far behind....

either one would EASILY have been the first pick last year---- and prob would be taken either above Simmons or- DEFINITELY right after Simmons ahead of Ingram.

I love that this trade gives the Cavs options. Its pretty unheard of for a team that has made the Finals 3 years in a row with a title to boot having access to a potential top 3 lotto pick.

I mean- say they get that pick and even trade it------- you can trade down- still get a top 10 pick and pick up a great player--- kind of like what Boston just did - trading down- getting a great pick and still getting Tatum--- shit they can do that even if the pick is in the top 5 and isnt even 1 or 2.

If the pick is 5 thats exactly what i would do---- trade down --- get like a pick in the mid teens and another player maybe--- i mean

who knows--- its fun to think about though.

Brad Stevens isn't stupid, so he wouldn't ever recognize Kyrie is the better player.

Hayward is absolutely the better player.

He tends to chuck down the stretch though, where I think Kyrie will be invaluable. Kyrie basically does everything IT does except better, and he's not 5'9 or whatever.

I like Bagley too.

But, I think you flip the pick, or Love...or both...for Marc Gasol.

Gasol, Thompson, Bron, Thomas....maybe Wade?

Smith, Rose, Crowder, Green, Korver off the bench?

Nasty!!!!

You still won't beat the Warriors...imo

But, it would be a good fight.

Another thing to think about is the fact that Hayward has never played with anyone as good as Kyrie. Having someone on his team who's fully capable of helping him with the scoring load could help him flourish as a Celtic.

They're still going to need a couple of years to acclimate to the NBA. From what is being said, Lebron was the only one among his family, friends, posse, etc. that wanted to return to Cleveland.

He got the Cavs their only title, so he fulfilled that promise and he hates Dan Gilbert. I just don't see him wanting to spend anymore time dealing with Gilbert on a team that isn't going to win a title.

I love that this trade gives the Cavs options. Its pretty unheard of for a team that has made the Finals 3 years in a row with a title to boot having access to a potential top 3 lotto pick.

About the only team I can think of that was in that type of position was the Showtime Lakers when they got James Worthy. This trade definitely gives the Cavs some good options.

Best case...they flip that pick for someone like Boogie who can give the Cavs the ability to attack the Warriors at their weakest spot and help give them a decent shot at the Warriors.

Worst case...they have a likely top 5 draft pick who can be the centerpiece of a rebuild.

Neither is a bad option, imo. Especially considering where they'd be if Lebron left and they didn't have that pick.

He played with Stifle, who is a better all around player than Kyrie.

If they could manage to pick up Marc Gasol and keep Love. I think that gives them a real shot vs. the Warriors.

Gasol, Love, Lebron, IT and maybe D-Wade or even stick with JR? Talk about a lineup that could attack the Warriors from anywhere on the floor.

Gobert is good.

But, a completely different type of player than Kyrie.

Actually, Damn near the polar opposite.

Hayward hasn't played with anyone of his caliber OFFENSIVELY.

Agree.

The mistake teams are making is trying to replicate Splash.

You can't out " Warrior " the Warriors.

Gasol/Boogie and LeBron could give them fits in the paint.

Boogie more imo because he can shoot better. and with that guy's attitude he'd fit like a glove in LeaveLand...:D

Gasol was better percentage wise last year, but with far less attempts.

I love Gobert as much as the next guy but there was a ton of weight put on Hayward in Utah to score. Gobert is good for put backs on offense but he's not Hakeem (not that Q was calling him Hakeem).

Agree.

He is a bigger and better version of Deandre Jordan.
