It does seem a horrible way to "rate" posters considering you have, in sports boards, well represented fanbases (such as Bama or Ohio state) who "like" fellow fans of that fan base all the time. Same with the political board with brainless democrats and republicans who have a hard time coming up with a complete thought and refuse to stray away from the party line so they like anyone who is towing the party line.
