Ok? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

Passing a lie detector test means no more than Stubblefield claiming he didn't do it. It doesn't prove his innocence, or even suggest innocence.

My point is how do we know she is telling the truth either? At least he took the lie detector test. Whether or not it's admissible is another thing. If he'd taken the test and failed it you can bet the prosecution would be talking about it.

:wtf2: And here I thought "tripping over your dog" was the ultimate excuse for hurting yourself! :L

My company is currently being sued because a man was walking his dog on the sidewalk, the dog wrapped the leash around the man's legs, and then the dog took off, which made the man fall. It's absolute horseshit how people will sue for just about anything these days.

So your company made the leash???

Who used that one????
That happened to Jake Plummer. They think he had a stress fracture that went undiagnosed, and then one day when he got off his couch, he felt a pop and had a broken foot.

We don't know that she is telling the truth. And he doesn't get credit for taking a lie detector because it's useless. It means nothing. His defense team set it up, so if he passed it they could release it and say, "see, he passed a lie detector, he didn't do it" to try to get ahead in the court of public opinion. But if he had failed, you think they would have let that get out there? Not a chance, you wouldn't have heard anything about it.

It's like with OJ Simpson. He took a lie detector test that was set up by his defense team, and completely flunked it. Yet we didn't hear anything about that until years later because his defense team knew it would paint him in a bad light.

Not that this matters but you made me curious so I checked. Some states courts actually do accept polygraph tests. Others don't. But not all states think they are unreliable.

They only allow them if both parties agree to it. Good luck on that.

By the way, even calling them "lie detector tests" is a misnomer. They don't detect lies, as that's impossible. What they do detect is physiological changes (such as increased blood pressure, increase in heart rate, perspiration, etc.) that MAY indicate a person is lying. Of course, the person could be telling the truth and fail anyway because they were nervous about taking a polygraph. Or with a little training you can beat the test if you know how. Penn and Teller did an episode of Bullshit! on lie detectors, it's definitely worth watching.

aren't they all in some respect?

:billb:

Dana used to go to a bar that I used to frequent. I'm not a 9er fan so i didn't care. He has some real asshole hanger-on friends though.

Rapé is atrocious, but his defense is that they had consensual sex after the babysitting interview. Seriously, how many non-porno babysitting interviews end in sex?

You are still missing a point. Yes, it doesn't prove his innocence or may not be used in court, but it helps his reputation with the detectives who will decide to press charges or not.

If you had to guess, what do you think happens more often?

Scenario 1: Rich, ex-athlete is used to getting tail at the snap of his fingers, and a woman actually says no to him, and he doesn't care. R*pes her.

Scenario 2: Gold-digging woman sees dollar signs; throws her p***y at a rich athlete. It's clear the dude isn't going to stick around, so she accuses him of r*pe in hopes of getting a nice settlement.

:noidea:

I've never hung out with former NFL players at a party or anything, so I have no clue what they're really like when the cameras are off (or what their groupies are like).

Is there a reason, besides sex, to interview someone to sit on your couch and watch TV?

Sure. If he did it then throw away the key.

Right now it's just her word against his word. He's not denying there was sex, he's saying it was consensual. Apparently he even passed a lie detector test.

I don't know how they prove r*pe in a case like this though. It's just a he said/she said kind of thing. Although, Mike Tyson was sent away under very similar circumstances so who knows?

hahahaha, so Dana had "consensual sex" with a retarded woman? You honestly think she consented to having sex with the person she was interviewing for a job?

"Stubblefield's attorneys say the woman texted Stubblefield 18 times the day the two had sex and four more times in the days afterward. Attorney Kenneth Rosenfeld said the woman asked for money on 10 of those occasions. He said Stubblefield gave the woman a "small amount" of money to help her repair her car."
