Everyone in America thought Carroll was a dumbass on that play, as soon as Lynch was set in motion

Especially after Lynch just rumbled easily for about 9 yards on the previous carry

People who didn't watch the Seahawks thought Carroll was a dumbass. Broken record, but Lynch had been downright shitty in short yardage against stacked run fronts for a season and a fucking half before that game. He'd already been stopped on short yardage TWICE in that same fucking game.

So sure, dumbasses thought Carroll was a dumbass. You know who didn't think Carroll was a dumbass? Belichek.

Agreed totally, if I recall correctly Beastmode was 20% succesful for the year in that situation.

What he wasn't a 'dumbass' for was calling a pass on the fateful play.

Again, in HINDSIGHT, I wanted him to roll Wilson out, (where he could throw the ball away if the pass or run was covered by B +B,) but oh well, don't get hindisght in life. <edit> Me wanting him to scramble wasn't hindsight, just the realization that it was the perfect call as the D turned out. Russ could've crawled into the endzone. However, (hindsight again), if a rollout was the plan, then Lockette doesn't tip B + B by leaning, and maybe it's Browner who reads the play, comes up and strips Wilson of the ball.

But they couldnt have created a more ideal situation for Bill to defend

Splitting Lynch out wide, removing the threat of a run, in a run situation, was absolutely the dumbest part of that play.....And thats when BB decided he wouldnt use a timeout when the world thought he would

Than designing a play for literally the worst WR on your roster in that spot

And like you said, not giving Wilson the run/pass option in that spot
