To me it comes down to upside potential. If Holland has his good stuff, he can throw you a gem...maybe even a shutout. If Colby has his good stuff, he will keep you in the game.

Holland and Perez might be riskier with their inconsistencies, but their upside potentials far outweigh Colby's.

That absolutely false. Colby has absolutely shut down opposing teams throughout his playoff career and has not had "shut down stuff" since he came back to the Rangers from Japan. Hell, just this season Colby took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. You're way off base here.

I hope he is still that guy who turns it up a notch in the postseason, but I don't know if it is a given.

It's not a given....no kidding Bennie. Life, death and taxes its certainly not. ha ha

Colby doesn't have shut down stuff anymore and in all likelihood only give you 5-6 innings.

How many innings you expecting from Gallardo? The 7th inning to him qualifies as an episode of Star Trek.

True, but he hasn't thrown in a post season game since 2011. More often than not, he will give up 3-4 runs, but keep you in the game. Holland and Perez can be more boom or bust, but both have the potential to put up shut out innings more than Colby.

If your mindset is to value experience over upside potential, then Colby is your guy. For me though, I like the rotation of Gallardo, Hamels, Holland, Perez with Hamels hopefully being able to throw 2x this series.

Hopefully he gets through 6 and into the 7th. That's 1 inning more than I'd expect from Colby.

In the stats where his last 14 days were so bad but the 28 much better he had 3 very good games including the 9 inning 2 hit shutout of Oakland that you were alluding to.

That is a tough one since he is so all over the place. I am going to say 6. And that may be a stretch. Just get it to Kela/Diekman, Dyson and Tolleson with a lead.

With Stroman back and Estrada Toronto has a good starting core to go with Price and Buehrle. Buehrle is like Colby in that he can be great or like pitching batting practice.

If memory serves, Buehrle seems to own the Rangers too.

From what I hear Buehler isn't going to be in the rotation in this series.

Well, I meant he wasn't going to be the sure thing he has been in the past most likely. I guess in the strict sense of the word Hamels isn't a given either. Lol

Hopefully.....well, I'm hoping for 7.1. But the reality of the situation is this, Gallardo for the season is a 5.2 innings man, and Colby is a 6.1.

That's no different than he was in 2010 and 2011.

Exactly......And way to go on keeping your sense of humor.

Sidebar: I just bet the parlay of Yanks +1.5, and Cubs -1.5. Good bet? Fair? Or fucked? :D

True, but still 4 years older.

I feel good about whomever the Rangers roll out there to be honest. They are playing well and so long as it isn't a Price vs Perez/Lewis situation I feel pretty good about their chances.

Give me Lewis against anybody. The dude finds another gear in the post season. Who cares if he's 4 years older? He's the exact same pitcher he was in 2011. His stuff hasn't changed a lick.

Kelly: Toronto’s non-existent rivalry with Arlington’s baseball fans

I got a chuckle out of this article --- Also, really well written too.

"Three hours before a game in Arlington, there’s no one around. An hour after a game, it returns to that state. You find yourself drifting toward the light – which is always a highway. It’s as if the city itself knows you don’t belong here and would like to point toward somewhere a little more happening."

You mean he has gone from taken the day off to taking the entire series off? Just kidding. Seriously, is Buehrle actually not pitching in the series?

The thing we should all trust in and love about Colby is his poise and the mental side of things. The guy knows he doesn't have shut down stuff but he's going to go out there and try to pitch. If his location is pinpoint and make the pitches he wants to then he along with any other pitcher with that approach can beat any team out there. I think the great thing about this team is we seem to have enough depth and experience to where I don't mind seeing anyone of our starters taking the mound to pitch a playoff game.
