And the cuts begin. The Lions placed WR T.J. Miller on the PUP list and released offensive guard Alex Bullard, offensive guard A.J. Dalton, defensive tackle Greg Hickman, tailback Steven Miller, defensive end Kris Redding and wide receiver Conner Vernon.

No real surprises there. Had heard decent things about Bullard and Hickman in camp, so we might see them re-surface on the practice squad, same with Miller, but these are exactly the kind of cuts you start with. We have until Tuesday to get down to 75 players, so that means 7 more will be cut over the next 3 days.

I'd rather keep someone like couplin who we can groom to someday replace Ihedigbo than leshoure or montell williams. Any chance they only keep 3 rb's and a fb? Dont think that winn or leshoure should make it

How dare YOU get a former Domer's name wrong.... Micro should BURST.... :noidea:

reason..... WR T.J. Jones.... hhhhmmmmm ?

I expect George Winn as a cut next week. LeShoure prolly makes the team after last night, he's been productive the last 2 weeks. I think the rb corps consist of Bush, Bell, Riddick, LeShore and both FB's Collins and Owens (ST makes it tough to cut him) stick to 53 man roster.... WR's corps; CJ, Tate, Ross, Broyles, Fuller, Durham

I like to keep Couplin for sure at this point, but I'd rather keep him at the expense of a 6th LB (Travis Lewis/Julian Stanford) or a 10th defensive lineman (Darly Tapp) vs. a RB or Monetell Owens. Keeping only 3 RBs is pretty sketchy in the NFL given the injury rate that position has. Most teams keep at least 4, sometimes 5. I'd take Winn over Leshoure since he's looking like a decent special teams player and Leshoure does not contribute in that department.

I think Collings is locked-in at FB, but Owens has a shot to make it, too, either as a 2nd FB, or the 4th RB. He can fill a bit of both roles, but special teams is his calling card, and he might well be the best special teams player on the team overall.

Since the 6th LB is traditionally a special teams specialist anyhow, replacing said player with Couplin doesn't really impact the defense, so I'd be all about that move. Couplin is capable on special teams right now, and has a much higher ceiling than Travis Lewis or Julian Stanford, or whomever is the current leader to be the 6th LB...

I think we're pretty close in opinion there. I think Winn gets the nod over Leshoure because of his special teams play, whereas Leshoure doesn't contribute in that respect.

At WR I think Kevin Ogivly makes it over either Durham or Fuller. With Ogletree still repping with the ones I think he's pretty safe at this point. I think only remaining competition is between Fuller and Durham for the 6th and final spot. It's going to be a tough call though- Fuller has grown by leaps and bounds since we drafted him and has more potential going forward than Durham does, but Durham has elite size for the position and has played far better in a reduced role this summer than he did last year...

Ogilvy runs great routes but I just dont think his hands are good enough to warrant keeping a 3rd slot WR. Broyles does everything better than him and Ross is our KR. We really need to keep the outside guys. I also like Peacock better than him, but he will most likely see the practice squad.

Don't forget that Ogletree can play on the outside, as well. At 6'1", 200 lbs he has more size than the average slot guy. His size/speed combo should make him an effective deep threat in our offense, and if he establishes that he'll be able to line up inside or out, thus making him more versatile and appealing for the coaches.

Broyles has also lined up on the outside a bit, so he has that going for him. I'm torn on who I'd want to keep. If we're only keeping two out of Ogletree, Durham, and Fuller, that's a tough call. All three bring something different to the table and all three are worth keeping, imo.

Really, Really ? C'Mon man

Detroit Lions looking forward to seeing Jim Schwartz, wish him well | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Lewis' ass should be cut for the mere technicality he let this troll shit come out of his mouth.. here it is.

Travis Lewis knows exactly what he’ll do when he sees former Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz during warm-ups before Thursday’s exhibition game against the Buffalo Bills (7 p.m., Channel 7).
“I’m going to give him a big-ass hug,” Lewis said. “That’s my guy. I have nothing negative to say. He’s a great coach. :pound: It was unfortunate what happened, but as a person, that’s my guy.” :L

My Prediction for the Final 53 Man Roster

QB..... Stafford, Orlovsky
OL..... Reiff, Lucas, Sims, Austin, Raiola (PFF greatest Center EVER), Swanson, Warford, Waddle, Hilliard
RB..... Bush, Bell, Riddick..... FB.... Collins, Owens (can't deny his ST play)
WR.... CJ (he barely made the cut), Tate, Ross, Broyles, Ogletree (changed from Durham), Fuller
TE..... Pettidrops, Fauria, Ebron
ST..... P-Martin, LS-Mulhbach, PK-Freese (see how long that lasts)

DT..... Suh, Mosley, Fairley, Reid
DE..... Ansah, Jones, Johnson, Taylor, Webster,
LB..... Tulloch, Levy, Whitehead, Palmer, VanNoy (might be PUP candidate, Tapp comes into play here)
CB..... Slay, Mathis, Bentley, Greenwood, Lawson, Vaughn
S....... Quin, Ihedigbo, Carey, Couplin, Abdul-Quddus

PS..... Candidates if they clear Waivers.... QB-Moore, OT-M. Williams, C- Keyton, WR-Peacock, RB-Winn, LB-Hepburn, LB-Benton, CB-Seisay... (2) more to add to

My last roster spot came down to DE Tapp and S Abdul-Quddus... it was a hard choice as Couplin is still raw where Quddus has some live game experience (4 starts).. I'm like others who wouldn't risk Couplin clearing waivers, so he stays. If VanNoy goes on PUP then maybe they keep Tapp over LB Travis Lewis

Julian Stanford is rated 82 in madden, who the hell is this guy. Based on that, he makes it onto my 53

Lol. He just made my final 53 because Kyle Van Noy will be out, at least to start the season. Either Stanford or Travis Lewis should claim that spot...

Whomever we sign to the practice squad.

Moore is eligible, but he may get snatched up by another team that keeps 3 QBs after his strong preseason performances. He's really developed well over the last 3 years. Hopefully we can get him through to the p-squad. If not I wouldn't be surprised if we went with an athletic, dual-threat type to give is some better scout-team options...

Durham will beat out Ogletree I think.
You still have Stanford out.
I think Collins or Owens will be out to make room for Stanford.

Also I dont think he will, but Moore should get the backup job over Dan O.
