Florence got the ax. 1 point for Old Lion.

I would like to keep Webster on the active roster, but we might have to get rid of a FB.

Good call on Florence.

Still no chance Webster doesn't make the 53 man roster. 4th round projects who have exceeded expectations so far don't get cut. That would be an immediate waste of a draft pick.

Drayton Florence was cut, so I obviously missed on that one. I also swapped Chris Greenwood for Jonte Green, and George Winn for Mikel Leshoure.

I think Kris Durham and Jerome Couplin are right on the edge of claiming a spot. WR has suddenly turned into one of our deeper position groups this spring/summer. Who would have guessed that? We have 7 viable NFL WRs competing for 5 or 6 spots, plus a surprisingly decent UDFA in Peacock, who seems like a good practice squad option the way things look right now.

I'm still ridin' high (dirty) in my statement that Webster makes the roster. He may very well be nothing more than a 5-10 snap a game situational rush OLB/DE. I expect big things from him this year as the season progresses, if he stays healthy. He's a freak, a super-Freak, he's really freakie...... now

Just curious, how come Raiola or Swanson can't take an off-season to learn how to long snap? Honestly, 30 minutes a day for 3 months and they would be fine at handling center and long snapping duties. Open up a spot for a guy like Couplin to be on the roster and not get snatched off waivers.

I don't think it's an issue of learning how at all, I think teams just don't want to lose a lineman to potential injury like that. That or the consistency of having a dedicated specialist snap it must be worth the roster spot.

Idk, there's gotta be something to it, though, because all 32 teams keep a long snapper. It's not as if we're alone, or sometimes teams don't carry one.

What you're saying definitely seems to make sense, though...

As for Couplin, he just might make the roster anyway- he's been repping with the 2s this week.

Dom might as well try it. His fat ass will be practically useless by next year.

Hope so- reports on Swanson is that he looks terrible so far. Hopefully he just needs some time to get his feet wet is all.

If Dom tears it up again this year, though, don't be surprised to see him return on another 1 year deal. No reason to rush Swanson into action if Dom is still the better option...

I am sure that is what they will do too.

As far as Swanson, he made some mistakes but saying he was terrible is a bit harsh. Not sure what the reporters were looking at. He played a lot so far in the 2 games and I only saw a few blown plays.

Helluva a lot harder than it looks. Did long snap, albeit in HS. Pay attention to accuracy and speed of the snaps on punts. Timing is key as the defense keeps getting faster on the rush.

Pay attention to college and pros and see the difference. College punters move a lot to catch snap, pro punters do not.

Ha thirty minutes a day. Even in in division 2 you have specialists that spend hours a all year long working on their long snapping. It is something that has to be perfect every time.

The margin between perfect snap and hold and a blocked kick is so low. I guarantee they both can long snap. Every college center is passable at it because he probably did it in high school and was somewhere on the oh shit list for it in college. They just arent perfect which is what is required from a snapper at that level.

I remember one year the Chiefs long snapper got hurt so they put in Jared Allen(Who was the long snapper at the senior bowl) and he injured his knee. I think it might be more about putting your best talent on the line for a kicking situation is not a great idea
