I'm a bit surprised that Don Carey made the final cut. He didn't play well this preseason.

He played so well last year that it would be difficult to do that especially now that Gomes is gone.

Ryan Broyles should only see the field for offense. No special teams. He seems to actually may be healthy and be able to contribute. Not sure the " china doll" (not sure yet) should get extra snaps than needed.

I also see him taking over 3 spot on depth chart. Should be 3rd WR in 3WR set. As long as god forbid he stays 100%.

I think that's probably true for every player in the NFL.

They generally don't change their legal identity all that often.

Good observation, though.

I am optimistic on issues not in Mayhew's control. Broyles has worked his ass off to get back in this position. I guess I want more a success story for Broyles than anything.

Broyles who can actually catch would be awesome with him and Tate in there. Should help numbers improve everywhere. .... drops, completion % being two biggest to me.

When he has played in those 3 games LOL he looked good. Love to see 16 games with CJ and Tate.

If he plays like he did in the preseason he should be their number 3 WR. He definitely has the talent to succeed. I hope he does as well, that offense is going to be ridiculous if broyles can play well. The lions would go from having one WR to three. They did pretty well with one. Just worried he will be injured soon.

Injuries are a concern. This guy has got more heart than any other player on the roster(maybe the NFL) and I hope for success for him as a person because he flat out deserves it. If he gets hurt again, I can almost guarantee he'll make his way back and land back on a roster. He is a true role model, regardless of NFL success.

Could have cut Owens and save money on the cap and just signed Winn. Owens is always on IR

Winn might get some early play with Bell struggling to get much going through 4 games...

Bummer about Owens, he was very good on special teams coverage. That sort of thing generally goes unnoticed, until the opposing team busts a seam for a return TD.

Owens certainly seems brittle, though, so probably not the worst thing to get another young RB up in his place going forward. I'd have to imagine he's done as a Lion, unless the coaching staff really likes him...

I'm hearing rumors we may have also signed Tashard Choice... Nothing concrete that I've seen yet, though.
