FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Rangers and Rays are engaged in trade talks and Matt Moore is among the names that's been discussed.
Advice: Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times first reported late last month that the Rangers had interest in Moore. Morosi notes that no deal is imminent and that the Rangers are seeking a reliever in addition to a starter. Moore has had an up-and-down season but has pitched well of late with a 2.51 ERA over his last seven starts. The left-hander is making $5 million this season and the Rays have club options on him through 2019 totaling $26.5 million.
Matt Moore limited the Orioles to two runs over seven innings but suffered the loss Saturday.
Moore held the O's to five hits and a walk, but a J.J. Hardy two-run homer in the second inning ended up being enough to saddle him with his seventh loss. Moore has four consecutive quality starts to lower his ERA to 4.33, and he seems to be peaking at the right time with the trade deadline approaching. Moore will have another chance to showcase himself Thursday against the Athletics.
