This is just purely a guess on my part, but I think Profar is as good as gone by the trade deadline. I don't think management views him as a long-term piece anymore, whether it's due to injury concerns, throwing concerns, or whatever. I think they played him just enough to re-establish his trade value as a centerpiece to a deal, and now they're going to ship him off for some pitching.

Complete conjecture on my part, but it's just what Banny's moves and the trade rumors both tell me.

According to SB Nation's Chris Cotillo, the Rangers have discussed reliever Will Smith and catcher Jonathan Lucroy with the Brewers.

We had already heard the Lucroy interest, but Smith feels like a new target for Texas. The left-handed reliever has been excellent since returning from knee surgery in June, boasting a 2.12 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 17 innings. For his career, Smith has held left-handed batters to a .241/.301/.390 slash line. He is making $1.475 million this year and will remain under contractual control through 2019.
