Oh yeah, not just any bullpen guy. He has value. He could be part of a bigger package for maybe Luzardo. He could also be traded for a good pitching prospect that could help us later this year, someone closer than Leiter and maybe as good as Owen White.
He has some value but not much. You would have to throw a few other players in the mix to get something decent.

This kid may go #1 in this year's draft. He is also a great fielder at SS, a great pitcher, and his on base percentage is.800.

From Shawn McFarland:

Young right-hander continues to shine: Listen, Marc Church might not make the Rangers’ opening day roster, but he’ll have made the club pause and think at the very least.

The 22-year-old logged a tidy 1-2-3 eighth inning on Sunday and included a flyout, a groundout and a strikeout. His fastball reached 97 miles per hour, and in four spring innings, he’s yet to allow a run and has more strikeouts (three) than baserunners allowed (two).

Church — a former high school shortstop — has a career 3.97 ERA in three minor league seasons, considerably more strikeouts (206) than walks (60) and reached Triple-A Round Rock at the end of last season.

“[He’s] a confident young man,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “He comes at you. Slider has gotten better since he’s been here. He’s got velocity. He’s got command. And he’s got the off-speed to go with the good fastball.”

Also from Shawn McFarland:

A non-roster arm that’s impressed: Speaking of relief pitchers who have made an early impression, veteran right-hander Diego Castillo pitched a scoreless inning on Sunday and flashed a mid-90s ′s fastball. The 30-year-old hasn’t allowed a run in his first three spring innings.

Castillo, in camp on a non-roster deal, was an effective reliever as recently as 2022 with the Seattle Mariners but only logged 8 and 2/3 major league innings last season. Of the handful of veteran bullpen options in Surprise, Castillo may currently be the clubhouse leader to earn a roster spot.

“He’s had a pretty good spring,” Bochy said. “He’s got swing-and-miss, you saw that today. He keeps it down, he’s got the slider, get’s some chases ... for the most part, he’s throwing strikes.”

More from Shawn McFarland:

David Robertson’s first live bullpen session: Since we’re so heavily on the topic of relief pitchers: David Robertson threw his first live bullpen session on Sunday before the Rangers shipped off for Mesa.

The 38-year-old — who historically has a slow spring training ramp-up — threw 27 pitches (17 for strikes), struck out one batter and allowed a hit to Josh Smith, Jose Godoy and a minor league batter. Bochy said that Robertson could see his first game action by the second week of March.

“He used all his pitches, the curveball, the cutter and the change and his fastball,” Bochy said. “He said he’s working on throwing strikes, quality strikes. Good day, good to see him out there as he gets things started.”

Leclerc is leading with 68% at this point. The mail-in ballots will no doubt lean heavily in another direction though.
