Have to think one more SP at least one more high leverage Relief arm and a RHB like Garver but I would be fine with Justin Turner

Now that we have won a championship it seems our goal for sometime will be higher than keeping up with the Astros. Will the Soto trade and the Ohtani signing force CY and ownership to change course and spend more? For example, do we push hard for both Hader and Yamamoto.

From the lack of funds (I dont buy this story, there will be another tv deal in place for when the Bally one ends) talk, due to the Bally television deal falling throughout appears they may go the cheap route and go with internal options.Same BS Mark Cuban did after the Mavs NBA Championship......I hate that for the organization, the fans and the players, if that is the route it goes.

Andrew Chafin to the Tigers. Relievers are starting to go so hopefully Texas adds several starting with Hader and then 2 or 3 more through free agency or trade

I honestly dont expect them to do much on the signing of any other relievers front just for the simple fact that adding Yates is more than they usually do. Usually those roles are filled internally too

From MLB Traderumors:

Sasaki’s contract with the Marines “is thought to” have an escape clause that would allow the righty to leave for the majors at any time. Ohtani enacted such a clause in 2017, though Ohtani had played five seasons with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

The Sponichi article didn’t give any mention about such a contractual opt-out, though the unusual timing of Sasaki’s request perhaps does indicate that he has some leverage to take this rather immediate plunge into the posting system.

Castillo/Harris wrote that the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants have all “intensely scouted” Sasaki in Japan, and at one point, the Dodgers thought that Sasaki would be available as early as this offseason.

times they are a changing i hope. CY is trying to make a good team better and we saw what internal attempts nearly ruined with our 2023 bullpen

in the article they also pointed out that:
In the broader picture, it is quite rare for Japanese players to ask to be posted so early in their careers, as the 22-year-old Sasaki has only played three seasons in NPB. As per MLB’s posting rules, players must be at least 25 years and have at least six pro seasons under their belt in order to receive anything more than a minor league contract.

From Jeff Wilson:

However, those who were paying attention during the winter meetings will recall that general manager Chris Young said the Rangers’ payroll will match and perhaps exceed what they handed out in 2023 — $251 million.

(The exact quote, for those who weren’t there: “Our payroll’s going to be very similar to where we were this past year, if not beyond that.”)

So, what gives? A few thoughts:

First — and this was true before their TV deal fell apart — the Rangers need one or two of their prospects to become reliable big-league starters. It doesn’t matter who emerges, but it matters to ease the payroll. None of the top prospects will be ready for Opening Day but needs to be an option for 2025.

As for the business at hand, the financial concerns are overblown. That’s not to say there aren’t concerns, but ownership remains willing to spend.

If Diamond Sports Group, which owns Bally Sports and owes the Rangers more than $100 million in broadcast rights fees, decides to drop the Rangers, MLB would assume the broadcasts if the Rangers can’t pull a new partner out of their hat.

MLB supplemented the lost income of the two teams Bally dropped last season, and it is believed they would do the same for the Rangers. The team should have money for 2024.

The uncertainty is in future seasons. The Rangers will find a new broadcast partner, but they might not find one at $100 million a season. Ownership might not want to commit too much to future payrolls until the TV deal is in place.

It is rare, but if it is written in the contract it will be one of the rare examples.
