Heard today that since the Angels signed Ohtani, they have made at least 70 million a year by selling his merchandise.

He's a guy to keep an eye on in Spring Training and early season in the minors. Would be fantastic if he could be a legitimate player and help the Rangers at some point. It's about time some of these promising relievers in the minors start to pan out. As an aside, anyone have any hope left for a guy like Grant Anderson?

I still have hopes for Anderson. He looked good enough at times to think he has the possibility to become more consistent.

A few years ago we were the broke, overweight, ugly dude who lived with his mom

this year we’re the 6’ stud with a 200k a year job, a big penis, and a big house.

Yeah but I am getting a little older. They better come get me now

Teams that the Rangers could possibly deal some of their excess IFers to get some more SPs...

Lol. Some of the prospect ranking services completely ignored the train wreck that Santos season was this year. There is no need whatsoever to protect him.

The Rangers have at least 3 or 4 players in danger of being removed from the 40 man roster. They have no shortage of spaces to add guys to the 40 man that are worthy of protection. Some of them could subsequently be traded or released adter we have signed a handful of free agents.

I doubt a team would claim Church in Rule 5 but he is likely to be protected.

If you look at who is eligible to be taken in Rule 5, if not protected, and order them by how Jamey Newberg ranked them in his latest prospect ranking, this is how they would be ordered.

Foscue
Corniell
Church
Crim
Kelly

I think there is a good chance all 5 are protected.

There should be a flurry of minor moves across MLB over the next couple of days leading up to the Rule 5 protection deadline. The Rangers don't usually do anything major during this time. Allard for Odorizzi is about as big of a deal as I can remember over the last few years.

Who is the equivalent of Allard this year? Burke?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ornelas dealt.
