1. That's some pretty elite company that Mbappe joined with a brace in France's win. Only Pele had scored a brace as a teenager in a World Cup knockout stage match.
2. Messi's failure to score reminded me of a meme I saw the other day. Messi: 5 goals in 4 World Cups. Kane: 5 goals in 154 minutes of World Cup play.
3. How does the ref from the Uruguay/Portugal match keep getting assignments? Every match he's officiated this World Cup has gotten out of hand.
4. Ironic that Messi and Ronaldo may have finished their World Cup careers on the same day.

Flopping would end they actually addef correct extra time at the end of the game. I read an article yesterday where they timed actual extra time versus reality. One of the Uruguay games should have been 18 minutes

We Timed Every Game. World Cup Stoppage Time Is Wildly Inaccurate.

They have added goal line technology and VAR. it’s probably time to add an actual game clock. It’s the most obvious home field or favored team advantage, though, so it’ll take a while for change.
