In today’s game, super Util gets starting playing time. He can play 2B, Short and all 3 OF positions.
I don't remember him in the outfield though he may have played there and not sure of his abilities if he did. Fitz seemed average at SS I would think if he played 2nd or 3rd that he might be better more so at 2nd.

Fitz is a better fit at 2nd than SS, and if he can also play outfield, then I’m guessing our outfield is set. Maybe Posey’s idea is to have players moving all around, so they can learn the position better. Overall I think the singing can help the team especially during the holidays for Christmas carols.

So now the attention will be on pitching, so Burnes or a Japanese starter?

Except Adames and if signed, Kim, means not much playing time for anyone in the infield. It would depend if someone flops in the outfield. Fitzgerald needs to be the starting 2nd baseman

Might as well sign Burnes and make the 2025 draft as boring as possible

Baseball drafts aren’t like the others, not as impactful. If it’s a difference maker like Adames or Burnes you do it. What you don’t do it for? Is Michael Tucker

Just my read, but I wouldn't expect Chappy to move from third. Adames is a SS and I'd expect he'll be there as long as he's a Giant. He'll be 29 next season and in his prime. 120-130 OPS+ and 3-4 WAR. Can't have enough of those guys. Oh, and his D looks to be good, not great. Not a liability.

Stealth Buster strikes again.

Now bring me Burnes and let's GO!

Adames has played 97% of his MLB innings at SS.

His Fielding % = .967

Craw's Fielding % = .974
Well as I read in a interesting book by Bill James who distilled it down to for instance a single being worth point something of a run and each instance of double triple and such forth. He made the observation that errors are opinion of whether it was a bad play and instead a defensive player should be judged by counting plays in their area and to some extent valuing the type of hit for instance screaming liner and such. You count the chances and what might result say a double if missed the catch, while counting the catches and throws against the balls that got though, to gauge range. Range can trump errors if that same player is making say 2 dozen more outs in the same amount of chances while taking 3 more errors. Valuing defensive play is much harder than counting errors.

He was stellar when he played CF in ‘23

Not as impactful FOR THE GIANTS. Other teams are able to produce starting level players…

Adames’ slash line in 63 career plate appearances at Oracle: .321 batting average / .381 on-base average / .446 slugging percentage / .827 OPS … with two home runs.

This meets the eye test. Craw was elite; Adames is simply good.

Meanwhile, all of his HRs overlaid at Oracle:

At PacBell (yes it will always be that to me) it's not so much the distances as the heavier cooler air all season at night

It's a real effect
