Will the Heat even make the playoffs?

I wouldn't say very likely. Right now only OKC & Indy have fewer losses than Miami. It's not impossible for them to at least catch one of those teams.....And in addition to that there is no lock that OKC make the finals in the tough Western Conference

Both points are very much true. I'm assuming OKC and Indy continue a similar winning percentage the rest of the season. The season is over half way done. Baring catastrophic injury, I think it's a safe assumption.

As of now, I like OKC coming out of the west. I think they are starting to separate themselves from the pack. Look who they have beat during this 9 game win streak.

I think Portland and LAC have something for them once both are healthy....In addition to this they lost to Memphis just a few weeks ago and Memphis is starting to look very scary for any team who faces them in the 1st round now that Gasol is healthy and with the addition of Courtney Lee

Ok City was more fired up for that game then there were in the Finals 2 years ago.
The players/bench were reacting to everything that went on all game.

On top of that, they played a hell of a game and the whole roster was hitting everything.

Combine that with many Heat players have off games it turned into what it did.

A #1 seed doesn't guarantee you a finals birth....Just ask the 2005 Heat, 2011 Spurs, 2012 Spurs, 2011 Bulls, and many more teams who failed to make the finals and sometimes even the 2nd round as a #1 seed. #1 seed doesn't guarantee you shit. Everyone is 0-0 come the playoffs and first to 16 win

Grizzlies a couple years ago beat the Spurs, a couple years before that the Warriors took down the Mavs.

I think those are the only times it happened since 1st round went 7 games.
