TJ Yeldon was drafted 4th in the 2nd round, which is decent for RB's in the NFL where it's a QB league.

De'Anthony Thomas went in the 4th round for Oregon.

So yeah, who cares about the couple of NFL quality RB's that played on 2 of the other teams.

Without looking at stats or Google...

Who were there the starting QBs and RBs?

I bet you get the QB's right, or close. RB's? Probably not.

Yeldon
Freeman/Tyner
Elliot
No idea for FSU

So you think name recognition = a teams tendencies?

Do you believe Oregon is a passing team? Ohio St? Alabama?

Nope.

But I damn sure believe in great QBs.

Running back, obviously. History is on my side.

Every 20 years since 1955, Ohio State has had a Heisman RB winner.

1955 - Howard Cassady
1975 - Archie Griffin
1995 - Eddie George
2015 - ...

You just reinforced his point.

Me not remembering who the Oregon RB is and thinking of the one that got drafted a year earlier has no bearing on the actual topic.

Name recognition has nothing to do with it. I know what kind of offense Oregon runs.

RB. There are multiple SEC guys, Elliott, Perine-the list of proven talent goes on.

For QB you have Goff, Boykin, Cook, and both guys from Ohio State. That's about it for proven talent (PSU qb still has things to prove).

The difference between the two lists is you have rb's like Chubb and Perine who are scary and qbs like Goff and Cook who are at the top of the list because no one better is available.

I just think you don't know that much about the QBs in the nation. Brandon Doughty was the leading passer in the entire NCAA last year. Then there's Cody Kessler, Anu Solomon, Dak Prescott, Gunner Kiel, Brad Kaaya, all guys who had monster years last year. All guys who are coming back. There are more elite RBs, I'll agree, but the gap isn't big.

It's hard to say. I'd say this year's QB class is leaps and bounds ahead of last year's.
Connor Cook, OSU QB, Trevone Boykin, Hackenberg, Cody Kessler, Jared Goff, Brandon Doughty, Anu Solomon, Dak Prescott, Gunner Kiel, Brad Kaaya, etc. all off the top of my head. There are some major QB talents.

That said, with guys like Elliott, Nick Chubb, Samaje Perine, Derrick Henry, Leonard Fournette, Royce Freeman, James Connor, Donnell Pumphrey, Kareem Hunt, Paul Perkins, Devontae Booker, etc. back, there's a ton of talent. There are also some new guys hitting the scene like Jordan Howard at Indiana replacing Coleman that could breakout.

I think it's safe to say there is a ton of elite talent at both positions this year. However, I think there are a few more elite returning RBs than QBs.

I agree with most of what you said here, Across the Field. But, all eyes are on the QBs right now as the linchpins for teams' success. It's going to take a spectacular performance by an RB to displace interest in QBs.

I do wonder if there's any chance for an outstanding defensive back, though.

I don't think it was to question the importance of dynamic of each position, I think it's just a question of where does more elite talent lie this season, in the group of QBs or RBs.

Also, if I get what you're trying to say with the second part, the defensive back would need to first be the best defensive back in his conference before actually being talked about among the elite QBs and RBs this season.

I agree. But, it would be interesting if a defensive back was in the mix.

There are some really good ones in the game this year. Ramsey, Hargreaves, Cravens, Vonn Bell. Got a lot of them. However, they're not at that level.

Kei'Varae Russell needs to be included on the list of best db's this season.

I don't disagree there. Those were just the ones I thought of off the top of my head.
