During the same time period Michigan has 4 conference titles and a bowl record of 6-7 (also no national titles). So in other words, very comparable. Yet 20 years from now, when those facilities are aged and other program have built newer, better facilities (maybe even Michigan among them) Michigan's tradition will remain. Throwing money at shiny facilities is only a temporary band-aide, a history of championships (both conference and national) and a laundry list of historic names of coaches and players lasts forever.

I would argue that to an 18 year old kid, playing for Oregon is way cooler than UM. You seem to forget that you are talking about 18 year olds to whom tradition is what happened in the past 10 years ... not 80 years ago. Advantage Oregon.

Ok buddy. Ill count the days until Oregon becomes a juggernaut for high school football with all of the super athletes with a couple hundred years of genetics to do it. See you in 2113.

Didn't realize that it requires "super athletes with a couple hundred years of genetics"!! Silly me, I thought this was an intelligent conversation!!

Since it's not an intelligent conversation, then I'll leave it at this!!

I hear that Uncle Phil has a secret underground lab at Nike headquarters and is genetically engineering "super athletes" there!!

The first batch should be done by 2014!! The rest of college football is doomed as soon as Uncle Phil's "Super Ducks" start filling Oregon's roster!!

Oregon is already getting the CA players USC used to get. They have one of the most talent-rich states in the nation next door.

Well we are a consumer based economy so its a nice skill to have once you have the resume to match.
Resume and referrals. Management within the industry is as vital to you looking good as the resume. You also can't job hop. That looks bad since most sales people get fired or quit jobs within the first year.

It does you are just too stupid to realize this. Kenyans aren't the best long distance runners in the world because there is an Asics factory in Nairobi.

Ah and here comes the personal attack!! How predictable!! You must be from ESPN, I hear they do that over there!!

Good thing I'm familiar enough with 'Bama posters to know that you are the exception and not the norm!!

Of course, a couple of hundreds years of genetics is kind of tough to come by (even in 'Bama) when the sport hasn't been around for a couple of hundred years!!

And Kenyans are great long distance runners because they live in a mountainous area with lots of hills and thin air and that's where they train!! It helps their lung capacity and overall stamina!!

Way cool facilities v. a rusty nail - an 18 year old kid. I'm going with the cool facilities.

You make less and less sense with each post, which is hard considering how bad the OP was.

:noidea:

Well, good thing you're not a great athlete. Because it would be absurd to pick a school based on their athletic facilities.

Yeah, because great ATHLETES never want great ATHLETIC facilities!!

I can hear it now, recruit after recruit, being interviewed and saying: "I was all set to sign with Oregon, those facilities are amazing. But when I got to Michigan and they showed me that rusty nail......"!!

ol rusty nail is losing his mind...

Imagine how much money you guys could have saved Uncle Phil if you just drove a rusty nail into a wall somewhere and told recruits: "You see that rusty nail? Dan Fouts hung his helmet from that nail"!!

Let me know when the five stars are flocking to Oregon because of their new building....right now, it looks like they have to worry about getting a few more 4 stars before they worry about anything better.

And I'm sure recruits choose USC because of their facilities....

Michigan had no problem recruiting kids to go here when all we had was a rusty nail and the big house.

Actually, they've already started attracting 5 stars!! In fact, the bastards stole one from USC a couple of years back and the facility wasn't built yet!! Doubt it's going to hurt their recruiting efforts!!

The facilities are brand new, so you might want to give them a recruiting class or 2 before you start talking about who is and is not going to sign with them.

They've recruiting decently in the past few classes because they've had some on field success, not because they've built a new building. When the success goes away, the recruits stop coming.

When all you had was the rusty nail, no one had these kinds of facilities!!

And as for USC, we just finished the $70 million McKay Center which is every bit as state of the art as what the Ducks have!!

Hmmm, they've talked about upgrading the athletic facilities at USC for as long as I can remember!! The Ducks build theirs and USC just happens to finish ours at about the same time and there are plans to spend and additional $70 million in upgrades on the Coliseum!!

When he discussed the McKay Center, Pat Haden said that it will provide a great boost to recruiting for all sports!! Little did he know, facilities don't matter!!

Maybe USC was smart enough to figure out that the Ducks were on to something?
