Ive seen plays where all it takes is a knee to end it. but then there is a bad exchange from center. or then the QB hesitates or the center steps back and bumps him or the RB steps up and bumps him and the ball ends up on the ground. in theory yes a knee would have ended the game. but the game is not over until it is over.
I'm not one of those that wants the record book re-written on this there were plenty of opportunities for OU to win that game. We got you the previous season anyway 31-7 without any official help. But it does rank up there as one of the all time screwings in college football. Almost like the 5 downs Colorado got that year to score a touchdown.
I am pretty sure Oregon has maintained a certain level that will keep kids wanting to play there. the facilities arent hurting recruiting.
-Maize, there is no program I respect more than Michigan for their tradition but you are wrong when you say you can't buy kids with facilities. OU has been pouring money into their program for just this reason. The kids today want the best dorms, practice fields, workout rooms, and stadiums. OU has slid in recent years on recruiting and you know why? Because their athletic dorms were old and out of date. You know what they just opened? That's right athletic dorms! I would argue that OU has some of the best tradition there is but we were still lose recruits to places that have new uniforms and facilities. So instead of just saying this is the field that such and such played on and you should be proud to play here. Even though the kid probably doesn't remember such and such player because they weren't born yet. OU decided that putting money back into the facilities was the way to go. It is a smart move by UO to do this the way they have. I think it does ensure their competitiveness for the near future at least.

i am not sure about that. Oregon is building something, but they are not there yet. The ugly uniforms and facilities are part of the promotional campaign. They do not have a natural recruiting base, so I am not convinced that they can easily bounce back from a mistake. There is still a lot at stake for Oregon as a program. They are not to the position of someone like Michigan that can miss on a coach and come right back/

That is not true..... I know for a fact....

Position for position who would you take on Michigan's roster over Oregon's?
lil ol Oregon's recruits are out performing big bad Michigan's recruits.
Oregon will be in the top 3 next year in players drafted into the NFL.
THis year they had 2 - 1st rounders not to mention several others in rounds 2-7.
Some people (including the OP) seem to want to think that Oregon's facilities are some kind of Field of Dreams "build it and they will come" that is supposed to lead top recruits to come to Oregon and then they will start competing for PAC-12 Championships, BCS bowls and NCG's!!
The truth of it is, Oregon was already competing for Pac-12 championships, BCS bowls and NCG's before the facilities were built!!
When Schembechler arrived at Michigan, the facilities were terrible. The team was getting dressed in the bleachers at the basketball facility. You know what Bo said, "You see that rusty nail right there? Fielding Yost hung his hat on that rusty nail! We've got tradition here! Michigan tradition! And that's something no one else has!"
Oregon will never be able to buy national titles or the history that makes a great program.
It has more to do with their shitty instate recruiting and the fact that the boys that grow up around there are softer than the facilities new color scheme. Great programs start at the base, the base is instate recruiting.

You are right stating the state doesnt turn out alot of in state talent. But generalizing about what kind of people live here is kind of stoopid.
So you say I am soft? I am born n raised Oregon and I dont meet to many people that are bigger than I am...
It's 2013. There's an arms race and they are one of the schools on top. Things have changed. Players pick schools based on uniforms. When Schembechler arrived at Michigan, the facilities were terrible. The team was getting dressed in the bleachers at the basketball facility. There are plenty of big men with quit in them. That's why the best fighters come from tough backgrounds.
Not true, Oregon starting building all of this in 2002. This is just one of their latest facilities.
