Why? It's something that most people look at and remember where they were and how long ago it was. Odd to get so triggered about referencing it in history.

You must get pissed when people say how many championships Michigan has won since WWII.

Even if ND were to lose to Syracuse , there is no way Michigan can jump ND at least not in a rational world. Number of losses being the same, head to head is the only fair tie breaker.

Happens every year in college football. Just two years ago we finished the season with the same record as OU and blew them out in their own stadium (didn't beat them by 7 at home) and they finished ahead of us.

Depends entirely on how LSU does. If they rebound and finish a strong 10-2, Bama probably gets in even if they lose to UGA. If LSU slips up at A&M to end the year, that would leave Bama with a 9-3 team as their best win and no conference title.

You're practically in the ACC, it would benefit ND greatly to make that official.

Not exactly, ND really likes to play across the country probably for recruiting purposes. Joining the ACC would end their yearly matchups with Mighigan (Midwest), USC(West Coast), Army(East Coast) ... Making a deal with the ACC provides them a better foothold in the south east
