Why have the Knicks never had one of “those” runs?

Like the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls ect.?

Too much of a baseball town?
Bad luck?
Horrible front office?
Too tight with the money?

Someone in the know explain it to me.

Because the Celtics and the Lakers were in the way in the early days.

And since the Jordan era they haven’t been able to get that franchise superstar with a complimentary roster good enough to get there

Ewing was very good, but others were better.

And Dolan held them back for many years.

So pasta was wrong when he said no superstars will play for the Knicks because the N.Y. media is mean.

Yeah. considering how many superstar baseball players eventually wind up with the Yankees or Mets (or both!)....

I'd say pasta talking nonsense.

"Media" might not be the reason, but who have been the last superstars to play for the Knicks since Ewing? Carmelo, sure...Marbury maybe...Larry Johnson?

Like tlance said, They've had pretty good talents but nobody who is really head and shoulders above the rest of the league, and without a good supporting cast.

I think I've figured out the Knicks problem.

The players change, the coaches change, the GM changes but the owner remains the same.

See: Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys (except for the GM thing since that's him too).

I would say this latest GM has done a fine job. He has a team that is in the ECF in its first season of this iteration while they had injury issues all season. They are far from the point where they have been that the pieces just didn't go together. A little tweaking and more time together and they are a competitor.

They likely would've been a 2nd round exit had the Celtics not received the injury karma to offset their run last year.

Knicks have $8m under the second apron for just 9 players for 25/26 and an extension looming for Bridges (Towns, McBride and Hart to follow). Do they extend MitchRob? They are going to need to make some decisions on who to keep moving forward to stay under that 2nd apron.

That's what it kinda seemed like now that you mentioned it.

Cavs also got hit by the injury bug at the wrong time of the season.

That’s along my line of thinking too. I don’t go back as far as Walt Frazier but remember the Ewing, Oak, Starks ect. era pretty well and.. I think in the right era that group could have at least won one, maybe more but that was the transition from Showtime Lakers, Bird’s Celtics, Bad Boy Pistons and Jordan’s Bulls on into the Rockets ect. very tough road.

JMO but I’ve always thought a NY Knicks “dynasty” type of run would be fantastic for the NBA but.. maybe I’m wrong.

No, you're on point. Any sports league would love a single NY championship. A NY dynasty would be like manna from heaven.

Of course their fans would be insufferable ass0s, but the NBA or any other league would be giddy.
